Dubai-based Emirates, the largest airline in the Middle East, and flydubai, a low-cost airline also based in Dubai, have expanded their existing codeshare agreement. The new, expanded network now includes 16 additional destinations to which Emirates' passengers will be able travel on a single ticket including Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRE) in northern Tanzania and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) onthe island of Zanzibar.

flydubai to introduce flights between Dubai <> Kilimanjaro!
Low-cost airline flydubai from Dubai is set to introduce scheduled flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) in Dubai and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), an international airport in northern Tanzania that serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi, on 29 October 2017. Kilimanjaro International Airport will be served with six flights a week three of which are via a stop in Tanzania's capital, Dar es Salaam. In addition, flydubai will increase direct flights to Zanzibar from three to eight flights a week.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the major gateway to the Kilimanjaro region, a main international tourism destination that includes Mount Kilimanjaro, Arusha National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. flydubai will be the first airline to provide direct air links between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kilimanjaro region.

Fastjet to suspend three routes!
update (29 Nov 2016): Contrary to their posting on Facebook, Fastjet only suspended three and NOT four routes from 05 December 2016 - Dar es Salaam in Tanzania <> Entebbe in Uganda, Dar es Salaam <> Nairobi in Kenya, as well as Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe <> Johannesburg in South Africa.
Pan-African low-cost carrier fastjet is set to suspend four of its services from 05 December 2016. They are Johannesburg <> Victoria Falls, Dar es Salaam <> Entebbe, Kilimanjaro <> Entebbe and Dar es Salaam <> Nairobi.
Passengers who have already booked and paid for affected flights will get refunded by Fastjet. Those on flights from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls will be offered an alternative routing via Harare.
According to a statement by the airline, the suspended routes were not commercially viable due to low passenger demand and the inefficient use of aircraft. Fastjet also replied to a post by an affected passenger on facebook saying that "this suspension of the routes is part of our ongoing turnaround program in pursuit of long term sustainable financial structures for our businesses in Tanzania and Zimbabwe".

Fastjet to resume flights between Kilimanjaro <> Nairobi!
According to aviation specialists airlineroute.net, Fastjet is set to resume flights between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi in northern Tanzania, and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, Kenya, on 03 November 2016. The airline will operate will operate two flights per week between the two destinations on board an Airbus A319.

Tanzania: Fastjet to launch flights between Mwanza <> Kilimanjaro
Tanzania-based low cost-airline Fastjet is set to introduce its fourth domestic route. From 30 March 2015 the airline will operate four flights a week between Mwanza Airport (MWZ) in Mwanza and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi.
Flights between the two destinations are open for booking (flight dates: 30March – 31 May 2015).

Kenya Airways: More flights to Tanzania
Kenya's flag carrier, Kenya Airways, is set to introduce more flights to Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro. From 30 March 2014 the airline will introduce a 5th daily service between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi and Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam and will operate daily instead 5 weekly flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Edelweiss Air continues Cape Town service; cancels Kilimanjaro & Mombasa
Swiss airline Edelweiss Air has announced that it will continue to offer two weekly direct flights between Zürich and Cape Town (Monday and Friday) in the 2014/15 (European) winter season. Due to the, according to the airline, strong decline in demand for flights to East Africa, the route Zürich - Kilimanjaro - Mombasa will no longer be included in the Edelweiss Air's 2014/15 winter timetable.

Fastjet: More domestic flights to Kilimanjaro & Mbeya!
Tanzania-based low cost-airline Fastjet has announced recent additions to its flight schedules on the Dar Es Salaam <> Kilimanjaro & Dar Es Salaam <> Mbeya routes.
The airline now offers daily morning and evening flights from Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar Es Salaam to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi in northern Tanzania.
Since 13 February 2014, on Thursdays and Saturdays, Fastjet also offers afternoon flights from Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar Es Salaam to Mbeya Airport (MBI) in Mbeya, located in southern Tanzania.

Kenya Airways & KLM expand their cooperation
The national airline of Kenya, Kenya Airways, and the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, will expand their codeshare agreement. From 01 January 2014, the cooperation between the two airlines will be expanded through the addition of the following four routes:
- London – Nairobi
- Amsterdam –Entebbe/Kigali
- Amsterdam – Lusaka - Harare
- Amsterdam - Kilimanjaro/Dar es Salam (subject to regulatory approval)

Turkish Airlines to increase flights to Mombasa (Kenya)
Turkey's national flag carrier airline, Turkish Airlines, will increase its service between its main base at Atatürk International Airport in Istanbul and Moi International Airport in Mombasa (Kenya) via Kilimanjaro International Airport (Arusha/Moshi, Tanzania). Effective from 27 October 2013 the airline will operate daily flights between the destinations instead of the current five weekly frequencies.
Turkish Airlines operates scheduled services to 40 domestic airports and 200 international airports (including 2 cargo-only destinations) in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. With 238 passenger destinations, the airline is the fourth biggest carrier in the world by number of destinations. Turkish Airlines has been a member of the Star Alliance network since 1 April 2008.

The flag carrier of Turkey, Turkish Airlines, will increase its five-weekly service between Istanbul and Mombasa (Kenya) via Kilimanjaro (Tanzania). Effective 27 Oct 2013, the airline will operate daily flights between the three destinations instead of the current five frequencies per week. Turkish Airlines launched the route in December 2012.
Turkish Airlines, a Star Alliance member since 2008, currently operates scheduled services to 197 international and 37 domestic airports, serving a total of 234 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Air Uganda launched flights Entebbe <> Kilimanjaro
Air Uganda, although privately owned largely recognised as the national carrier of Uganda, launched flights between Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe (Uganda) and Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) near Arusha (Tanzania). Since 29 May 2013 the airline is offering four weekly flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sungays on board a brandnew 50—seater Bombardier CRJ 200 aircraft between the two destinations.

Fastjet to resume Kilimanjaro <> Zanzibar service
Good news for travellers in Tanzania. African low-cost airline Fastjet will resume flights between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) on Zanzibar after a 10 week service suspension. From 02 July 2013 the airline will operate three weekly flights between the two destinations.

Tanzania: Fastjet to drop new domestic routes
Not so good news for travellers in Tanzania. African low-cost airline Fastjet is forced to temporarily drop its recently introduced routes between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) on Zanzibar as well as between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Mwanza Airport (MWZ). Both flights will be suspended between 18 April 2013 to 30 June 2013. Travellers booked on flights on the particular routes will be fully refunded at Fastjet's offices.
Fastjet will continue to service its routes between Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and between Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) and Mwanza Airport (MWZ) as usual.

Tanzania: Google Street View adds Mount Kilimanjaro
Google has added a selection of the world's highest mountains to its Street View interactive library, including Aconcagua (Argentina), Mount Elbrus (Russia), the Everest Base Camp (Nepal) and, of course, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (Africa). Street View teams climbed all four mountains and took three shots while facing north, three south, three east and three west on each peak using the usual tripod-mounted digital cameras equipped with a fisheye view lens to capture 360-degree views. The pictures taken on top of Mount Kilimanjaro were taken from Uhuru Peak, the mountain's highest summit.

Mount Kilimanjaro, actually a stratovolcano, is composed of three distinct volcanic cones - Kibo 5,895m, Mawenzi 5,149m and Shira 3,962 m. Uhuru Peak on Kibo's crater rim is the mountain's highest summit. Mawenzi and Shiba are already extinct while Kibo is still dormant and could erupt again. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and fourth highest of the Seven Summits. It is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, as well as the 4th most prominent mountain in the world.

Fastjet to expand its network in Tanzania
Tanzanian low-cost airline Fastjet has announced some great news for travellers in Tanzania. The airline will launch daily flights between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) on Zanzibar as well as between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Mwanza Airport (MWZ) on 18 March 2013. Both flights will be operated on board a Airbus A320.

KLM to increase service to Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)
Dutch flag carrier, KLM, will increase its service between Amsterdam and Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania. Due to strong demand, the airline will operate 9 weekly flights (instead of currently daily flights) from 27 Dec 2012 until 10 March 2013. The additional direct service will be operated by a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as terminator service.

Air Tanzania to resume domestic flights
The national carrier of Tanzania, Air Tanzania, will resume domestic operations on
Air Tanzania's only own aircraft, a Bombadier Dash-8 Q300 plane, is currently stored as it is undergoing checks at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. The airline expects to now resume operations with both the Boeing 737-500 and the Bombadier Dash-8 Q300.

Turkey's flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, announced that it will launch flights to Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) and Mombasa (Kenya). From 04 December 2012, the airline will be operating five weekly flights routed Istanbul (Turkey) - Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) - Mombasa (Kenya) - Istanbul (Turkey).
Turkish Airlines, a Star Alliance member since 2008, is currently operating scheduled services to 160 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports), serving a total of 201 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Tanzania: Tanzania National Parks (Tanapa) revises tariffs
Tanzania National Parks (Tanapa), the public organisation with the
mandate of managing all areas designated as National Parks in Tanzania,
has revised tariffs across fifteen Tanzanian National Parks, such as
Serengeti National Park and Tarangire National Park. Tanapa also
renamed the park entry fee to "conservation fee".
The new tariffs will be effective as of 01 July 2013. According to a statement by the management of Tanzania National Parks, the changes to the currently existing tariffs needed to be done in order to meet the general increase in price levels of most commodities and services, as well as to improve the infrastructure such as roads, bridges and airstrips, to cater for the increased number of visitors and to diversify tourism facilities.
