Kenya Railways, the national railway of Kenya, has commissioned the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Express Service (JKIA Express Service) on 08 December 2020. The new service connects the Nairobi Central Railway Station in Nairobi's central business district with Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), which is located in the Embakasi suburb about 20 km southeast of Nairobi's central business district.
The JKIA Express Service is an extension of the Nairobi commuter rail service targeting air travellers and airport users. According to Kenya Railways the JKIA Express Service will take 20 minutes from Nairobi Central Railway Station to Embakasi Railway Station and a further 10 minutes connection using the Nairobi Commuter Rail bus to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). Tickets cost Sh500/person.

Kenya: Free 24hrs WiFi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi!
Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the owner and operator of nine civilian airports and airstrips in Kenya, has introduced 24hrs free WiFi at the country's main international Airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. The airport previously granted free access to the WiFi network for only one hour after which users were subjected to pay to use the service.

Survey: King Shaka International Airport in Durban named third-best airport in Africa!
Airports Council International (ACI), the only global trade representative of the world's airport authorities, has announced the winners of the prestigious 2017 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. Mohammed V International Airport (CNM) in Casablanca was named Best Airport in Africa 2017 (over 2 million passengers per year), followed by Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) on Mauritius and King Shaka International Airport (DUR) in Durban. George Airport (GRJ) in George scooped the award for Best Airport in Africa 2017 (under 2 million passengers per year), while Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi was recognized as most-improved airport in Africa 2017.

Fastjet to resume flights between Kilimanjaro <> Nairobi!
According to aviation specialists airlineroute.net, Fastjet is set to resume flights between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi in northern Tanzania, and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, Kenya, on 03 November 2016. The airline will operate will operate two flights per week between the two destinations on board an Airbus A319.

Kenya: Kenya Airways launches shuttle service between NBO <> Nairobi CBD!
Kenya's flag carrier, Kenya Airways, has introduced a shuttle bus service between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) and Nairobi's Central Business District. The KQ shuttle buses depart from the Sirios Car Park on Loita Street in Nairobi's CBD at 06:00, 11:00 and 17:00, while the service from the airport to the city departs at 09:00, 14:00 and 21:00. Tickets cost 1000KSh/person (GBP 7.30 | Euro 8.70 | USD 9.70 | ZAR142.00); passengers are allowed two pieces of luggage plus hand-held items. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) is located about 15km (9 mi) southeast of Nairobi's central business district.

Kenya: Airspace closure on 24 & 26 July 2015!
update (24 July 2015): Kenya Airways has released an update regarding the airspace closure.
Kenya's airspace will be closed few hours on 24 July 2015 and on 26 July 2015 due to the visit of the President of The United States Barack Obama to Kenya. Kenya Airways expects some disruptions to its flight schedule during this time and has rescheduled some flights departing from or arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi during the airspace closure time. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi): New Terminal 2 now operational!
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has recently opened the brandnew Terminal 2 (T2) at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi (Kenya). The new terminal is located right behind the airport's Air Traffic Control Tower. Kenya Airways has began to shift flight handling to the new terminal, while regional carrier Fly540 shifted their entire operation to T2. It is expected that over the coming days more and more airlines and flights will be moving to the new terminal.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi): Night-time closure for runway!
The runway at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi (Kenya) will be partially closed for rehabilitation between midnight and 06:00 a.m from 02 April 2015. The runway works, which will include resurfacing the full runway, upgrading the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and upgrading the runway capacity by construction of rapid exit taxiways and extending the parallel taxiway, is expected to take 12 month.
All passengers at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have been advised to contact their airlines to confirm their flight schedule in advance and to arrive at the airport four hours prior to departure.

Nairobi: Major change in parking arrangements at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport!
The construction of a new temporary international arrivals terminal (Terminal 1E) at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi is set to begin. To pave ways for the construction, Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) has announced a major change in parking arrangements at the airport:
- Parking 7 & 8 will be closed from 10 November 2014
- Parking 5,6 & 10 have been reserved for commercial parking
- Parking 11 is for staff use
- Parking 9 remains for taxi use

Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) will rename the terminal facilities at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi to enhance customer experience and facilitation. As of 30 June 2014 the new signage will be erected.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi): Travellers advised to arrive an extra hour early
update (26 March 2014): Kenya Airways issued a press release last week, in which the airline advises all travellers departing from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi to be at the airport at least an hour earlier than usual due to heavy traffic on Mombasa Road.
update (21 Feb 2014): Travellers are not only advised to be at the airport at least an hour earlier than normal, the Airport South Road between Outering Road/Airport North Road Overpass and Freight Terminal Road is also closed since 20 Feb 2014 until further notice!

Kenya: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport's new Greenfield Terminal (computer rendition)
Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the construction of a new Ksh55.5 billion (US$654 million) terminal at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on 03 December 2013. The two-phased construction work is expected to be complete by 2017. The construction of the new terminal began immediately.

Johannesburg is the third-most visited city in Africa & the Middle East
According to this year's MasterCard Index of Global Destination Cities, Johannesburg in South Africa is the third-most visited destination city in the Middle East and Africa. Only Dubai in the UAE and Cairo in Egypt are attracting more visitors. Johannesburg is furthermore the most visited city in sub-Saharan Africa. Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, ranked seventh in the regional ranking and is therefore the second-most visited city in sub-Saharan Africa.
In terms of visitor expenditure, Johannesburg ranked fifth, out of ten, in the region with $3,3bn expected to be spent by inbound passengers this year. Nairobi follows on rank eight with $1.3bn to be spent.

Kenya Airways opens new lounge at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
Kenya's flag carrier Kenya Airways has announced the opening of a new lounge for SkyTeam Platinum and Gold Card Holders at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The lounge has the capacity to accommodate up to 90 passengers, who will enjoy complimentary food and drinks, a hot shower, high speed WiFi, DSTV and more.
SkyTeam is an airline alliance founded in 2000 by Aeroméxico, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air. The alliance has grown to become the second largest airline alliance in the world (in passenger number terms and members), behind Star Alliance and ahead of Oneworld. SkyTeam has currently 14 member airlines.
