Uganda Airlines to launch direct flights between Entebbe <> London!

Uganda Airlines, the national carrier of Uganda, is set to introduce direct flights between Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe and Gatwick Airport (LGW) in London, UK. Starting 18 May 2025, the airline will operate four weekly flights on the modern Airbus A330-800neo, featuring Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class seating.
The new route is designed for seamless connectivity to North America, Europe, and key African destinations, such as Lusaka (Zambia), Harare (Zimbabwe) and Johannesburg (South Africa), through Uganda Airlines’ expanding regional network. This strategic addition enhances travel options for business and leisure travellers while strengthening Uganda's position as a key aviation hub in East Africa.

Uganda: Uganda Airlines launches flights to two new destinations in Southern Africa!

The flag carrier of Uganda, Uganda Airlines, is set to introduce flights to two new destinations in Southern Africa. The airline announced today (17 July 2024) that it will launch scheduled flights to Lusaka in Zambia and Harare in Zimbabwe on 25 September 2024. Uganda Airlines will operate four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between its main hub at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe and Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka as well as RG Mugabe International Airport (HRE) in Harare. The airline will be using its Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft on the route.

South Africa: Airlink has discontinued flights to Uganda!

South African regional carrier Airlink has canceled its service between OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda, at the end of August 2023. According to the airline, it discontinued the route due to persistent commercial unviability. Airlink has contacted ticket-holders and is offering to refund in full or re-route on one of its daily flights between Johannesburg and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi with onward connections to Entebbe.  
Uganda's national carrier, Uganda Airlines, will close the gap by increasing frequency on the Entebbe <> Johannesburg route from five weekly flights to daily starting 01 October 2023.

Uganda: Uganda Airlines set to launch its first intercontinental route!

The flag carrier of Uganda, Uganda Airlines, is set to launch the first intercontinental route on the airline’s network. Effective 04 October 2021, Uganda Airlines introduces a three-weekly service between Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe and Dubai International Airport (DXB) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Flights will be operated on board an Airbus A330-800neo. Uganda Airlines recently successfully got the aircraft included on its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) fleet listing. The airline is planning to launch other international and long-haul routes such as London in the UK and Guangzhou in China in the near future. We'll keep you posted!

South Africa: Airlink to launch flights between Johannesburg <> Entebbe! [update]

update (27 August 2021): Airlink is set to introduce flights between Johannesburg and Entebbe from 19 September 2021.

update (20 July 2021): Airlink has postponed the launch of flights between Johannesburg and Entebbe to 18 August 2021.

South African privately-owned regional carrier Airlink has announced that it will introduce a new service between OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda. Effective 19 July 2021, the airline will operate four weekly return flights to Uganda's main international airport. Flight 4Z 190 will depart Johannesburg at 21:15 and arrive in Entebbe at 02:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The return flight (4Z 191) will depart Entebbe at 03:30 and arrive Johannesburg at 07:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Airlink’s fares include a 20kg free economy class checked in luggage allowance plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance. Onboard, passengers are offered a complimentary light meal, refreshments, generous leg room and a choice of aisle or window seat (flights do not have middle seats).

Uganda Airlines to launch flights between Entebbe <> Johannesburg!

The flag carrier airline of Uganda, Uganda Airlines, is set to launch flights to Johannesburg in South Africa. Effective 31 May 2021, the airline will operate four weekly direct flights between Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. Flights to Johannesburg will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while the return flights to Entebbe will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Uganda Airlines to launch a nonstop service between Entebbe <> Mombasa!

The flag carrier of Uganda, Uganda Airlines, is set to launch a new nonstop service between Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda, and Moi International Airport (MBA) in Mombasa, Kenya. Effective 11 November 2019, the airline will operate three weekly return flights to Mombasa on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays on board a Bombardier CRJ900ER. The flight time between Entebbe and Mombasa is one hour and 50 minutes. Mombasa will be Uganda Airlines' seventh destination since the airline resumed operations in August 2019.

Emirates to temporarily increase flights between Dubai <> Entebbe!

The largest airline in the Middle East, Emirates, will temporarily increase the number of flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) in Dubai and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda. Effective 05 July 2019 to 15 September 2019, the airline will introduce three additional flights per week on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Currently, the airlines operate daily  Dubai <> Entebbe flights to over 150 destinations via its Dubai Hub. The introduction of the extra flight is in response to increase in passenger traffic from Entebbe to Emirates global destinations such as Dubai, London, New York, Beijing and Guangzhou.

Air Tanzania to launch flights to Entebbe & Bujumbura!

The flag carrier airline of Tanzania, Air Tanzania, is set to launch direct flights between Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda, and Bujumbura International Airport (BJM) in Bujumbura, Burundi. Effective 26 August 2018, the airline will offer three weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between Dar es Salaam and Entebbe as well es between Dar es Salaam and Bujumbura. Flights will be operated on board a Bombardier Q400 aircraft.

Kenya: Jambojet to launch flights between Nairobi <> Entebbe!

Kenyan low-cost airline Jambojet, a subsidiary of Kenya Airways, is set to introduce double daily service between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi and Uganda's principal international Airport, Entebbe International Airport (EBB), in Entebbe on 15 February 2018. The airline will operate a 78-seater Bombardier Q400 aircraft on the new route.

Uganda: Etihad Airways to suspend flights between Abu Dhabi <> Entebbe!

The second largest airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, will suspend its operations between Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe from 25 March 2018 "following a commercial assessment of the route's performance". According to the airline ticket holders who have purchased tickets on/before 18 December 2017 for travel on/after 25 March 2018 will be provided with alternative travel options. Etihad Airways introduced flights to Entebbe in May 2015.

Tanzania: Precision Air to relaunch flights to Entebbe (Uganda)!

Tanzania's leading domestic airline, Precision Air, is set to relaunch flights between Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe in Uganda on 01 July 2017. The airline plans to operate four flights per week with two nonstop flights from Dar es Salaam to Entebbe and two services routing via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)*. Tickets sale is expected to commence on 10 March 2017. Precision Air suspended flights to Entebbe back in 2013.
* Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi.

Fastjet to suspend three routes!

update (29 Nov 2016): Contrary to their posting on Facebook, Fastjet only suspended three and NOT four routes from 05 December 2016 - Dar es Salaam in Tanzania <> Entebbe in Uganda, Dar es Salaam <> Nairobi in Kenya, as well as Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe <> Johannesburg in South Africa.

Pan-African low-cost carrier fastjet is set to suspend four of its services from 05 December 2016. They are Johannesburg <> Victoria Falls, Dar es Salaam <> Entebbe, Kilimanjaro <> Entebbe and Dar es Salaam <> Nairobi.
Passengers who have already booked and paid for affected flights will get refunded by Fastjet. Those on flights from
Johannesburg to Victoria Falls will be offered an alternative routing via Harare.
According to a statement by the airline, the suspended routes were not commercially viable due to low passenger demand and the inefficient use of aircraft. Fastjet also replied to a post by an affected passenger on facebook saying that "this suspension of the routes is part of our ongoing turnaround program in pursuit of long term sustainable financial structures for our businesses in Tanzania and Zimbabwe".

The capital of Uganda, the city of Kampala, as well as Entebbe, located about 35km southwest of Kampala and the location of Uganda's largest commercial airport, Entebbe International Airport (EBB), are now (since Oct. 2015) live on Google Street View!

British Airways suspends flights between London <> Entebbe (Uganda)!

The flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom, British Airways, will end its service between London Heathrow Airport (LHR) in London and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda, in October 2015. The last flight between the two destinations will depart London for Entebbe on 02 October 2015, while the last flight to London will leave Entebbe on 03 October 2015. British Airways currently operates three weekly flights on board a Boeing 767 between London and Entebbe.

Uganda: Emirates set to increase capacity Dubai <> Entebbe!

The largest airline in the Middle East, Emirates, is set to upgrade its services between Dubai International Airport (DBX) in Dubai (UAE) and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe (Uganda) with the deployment of larger Boeing 777-200LR from 01 October 2015. The Boeing 777-200LR will replace the current Airbus A330-200 used on the route, and increase the total number of seats across all cabin classes by 12%, offering eight private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 216 seats in Economy Class.
Emirates flight EK 729 departs Dubai at 0920hrs and arrives at Entebbe at 1330hrs. The return flight, EK 730, departs Entebbe at 1610hrs and arrives in Dubai at 2230hrs.

Fastjet to launch flights between Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) <> Entebbe (Uganda)

Tanzania-based low cost-airline Fastjet is set to introduce scheduled flights between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which serves the Tanzanian cities of Arusha and Moshi, and the principal international airport of Uganda, Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe. From 31 March 2015 the airline will operate three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between the two destinations.

East Africa: Two airlines to launch flights Entebbe <> Nairobi in January 2015!

Two East African airlines, namely Fly-SAX from Kenya and the flag carrier of Rwanda, Rwandair, will soon launch flights between the Kenyan capital Nairobi and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda. Fly-SAX will introduce two daily flights between the two destinations on 09 January 2015, while Rwandair will start its double-daily service between Entebbe and Nairobi on 10 January 2014.

KLM to introduce a non-stop service Amsterdam <> Entebbe (Uganda)

The flag carrier of the Netherlands, KLM, will from 28 October 2014 operate three of its seven weekly flights per week between Amsterdam and Entebbe in Uganda without making a stopover in Rwanda's capital Kigali. The non-stop flights will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while the airline's service on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays will continue to route via Kigali. KLM uses an Airbus A330 with a two class configuration of business and economy class on the route.

Fastjet to launch flights Dar es Salaam <> Entebbe (Uganda)

Tanzania-based low-cost airline, Fastjet, will be launching the only direct air link between Dar es Salaam (DAR) in Tanzania and Entebbe (EBB) in Uganda on 16 September 2014. The airline will operate two flights per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the first weeks of September 2014 and will increase flights between the two destionations to 4 weekly frequencies from 29 September 2014. Entebbe will be Fastjet's fourth international destination. Tickets for the new route go on sale today (01 Sept 2014).
