Ethiopian Airlines introduces a new triangular route connecting Ethiopia, Zambia and Botswana!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia and Africa's largest airline in terms of passengers carried, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to introduce a new triangular route connecting Addis Ababa with two destinations in Zambia and Botswana. Effective 10 June 2024, the airline will operate three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NDL) in Ndola, Zambia, and Maun Airport (MUB) in Maun, Botswana. Ethiopian Airlines will use a 160-seat Boeing 737 MAX on the new route. Flights will depart Addis Ababa at 08:30 and arrive in Maun at 12:40. The connecting flight will depart at 13:30 and will arrive in Zambia's commercial capital at 15:30. The final leg of the triangular route will start in Ndola at 16:20 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 21:25.
Ndola is Zambia's ommercial capital city. The capital of Copperbelt Province lies just 10 kilometres from the border with DR Congo and about 320 kilometres north of Lusaka. Maun is Botswana's tourism capital. The city lies on the southern fringes of the Okavango Delta and is known as the gateway to the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia adds extra scheduled flights on its domestic and regional routes this festive season!

Zambian airline Proflight Zambia has announced that it will be adding extra scheduled flights on its domestic in Zambia and regional routes in Southern Africa this festive season. The airline will introduce additional flights on its service between Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg during this period, bringing the frequency up to 21 return flights per week. Proflight Zambia will also recommence direct flights between Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola and Johannesburg from today (05 December 2022).
Proflight Zambia Director Flight Operations Captain Josias Walubita further announced that extra flights have also been added on all domestic routes operated by Proflight Zambia to increase capacity for the festive period to meet the increased demand.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia doubles flights between Ndola <> Mansa!

Zambian airline Proflight Zambia has annouced that it will double the frequency of direct flights between Ndola in Zambia's Copperbelt Province and Mansa, the capital of the Luapula Province in northern Zambia due to popular demand. Effective 13 June 2022, the airline will add flights on Wednesdays and Fridays, supplementing its existing flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Flights leave Ndola at 10:15, arriving in Mansa at 11:00, with the return flight leaving Mansa at 11:20 and arriving in Ndola at 12:05. The service is timed for smooth connections from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka to Ndola, with flights leaving Lusaka at 09:00 and arriving in Ndola at 11:00, then departing Ndola at 12:40 to arrive in Lusaka at 13:25.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia to resume flights between Ndola <> Johannesburg! [update]

update (02 May 2022): Proflight Zambia is re-launching its direct service between Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg on 18 May 2022.

Zambian airline Proflight Zambia has announced the resumption of flights between Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola in the Copperbelt Province in northern Zambia and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Effective 25 April 2022, flights from Ndola will operate three times a week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, departing at 08:10 and arriving in Johannesburg at 10:40. Flights from Johannesburg depart on the same days at 12:30, arriving in Ndola at 15:00. Two additional flights on Sunday and Monday depart Johannesburg at 14:30 and arrive in Ndola at 17:00. The route will be operated by the Bombardier CRJ-100/200 50 seat Jet aircraft with onward connections onto the Cemair and FlySafair networks to other destinations in South Africa and beyond.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia to relaunch flights between Ndola <> Mansa! [update]

update (25 March 2022): Proflight Zambia launched its Ndola <> Mansa service on 24 March 2022. Flights are operated every Tuesday and Thursday from Ndola departing at 07:45 and arriving at 08:30 in Mansa. And an additional flight on Thursday from Ndola departing at 10:15hrs and arriving in Mansa at 11:00hrs. The route will be serviced by Proflight’s British Aerospace Jetstream aircraft.

Zambian airline Proflight Zambia is set to relaunch direct flights from Ndola in Zambia's Copperbelt Province to Mansa, capital of the Luapula Province in northern Zambia, with connections to and from Lusaka. Effective 15 March 2022, the airline will operate two weekly return flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Proflight Zambia previously operated the Ndola <> Mansa route from 2010 to 2015. The airline also has plans to commence schedule operations to Kasama and/or Mbala in the second quarter of 2022 and is also looking at Mongu.

Zambia: The "new" Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola is now fully operational!

The Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) has announced that yesterday (06 October 2021) was the last day for commercial flights at the "old" Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola in the Copperbelt Province in northern Zambia. From today (07 October 2021), all commercial flights to Ndola will land at the "new" Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport, which also takes over the IATA code "NLA" from the old airport. The new airport, which was previously known as Copperbelt International Airport and was formally commissioned on 05 August 2021, is located some 20 kilometres west of Ndola off the Ndola-Kitwe dual carriageway, past the Ndola Girls National Technical School and the Dag Hammarskjold Memorial Site.

The "new" Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) has a capacity of one million passengers per annum, three aero bridges, a new fire and rescue service station, a cargo terminal, business complex, aircraft maintenance hangar and an airport fuel farm. According to ZACL, in the near future the airport will also house a 50-roomed luxury hotel which will be managed by a renowned hotel group.

Proflight Zambia to increase flights between Ndola <> Johannesburg!

Zambian airline Proflight Zambia is set to introduce a fifth weekly return service between Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola, Zambia, and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. Effective 29 März 2020, the airline will operate an additional return flight on Sudays to Johannesburg. As of now, Proflight Zambia operates four weekly fligts on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Proflight Zambia to introduce flights between Ndola <> Johannesburg! [update]

update (11 July 2019): Proflight Zambia will operate flights between Ndola and Johannesburg on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on board a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ jet aircraft. Flights will depart Ndola at 08:05 and arrive in Johannesburg at 10:35. The return flight will depart Johannesburg at 11:40 and arrive in Ndola at 14:10. The new route is expected to beginn on 02 September 2019.

Zambian airline Proflight Zambia has plans to temporarily introduce a new service to South Africa. The airline will operate three weekly flights between Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg between 02 September 2019 and 03 January 2019. Proflight Zambia currently operates one direct service to South Africa - a three weekly service between Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka and King Shaka International Airport (DUR) in Durban.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia adds more flights to its Lusaka <> Ndola route!

Proflight Zambia, the operator of the largest fleet of aircraft in Zambia, is set to introduce an additional mid-afternoon flight between Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka and Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola to meet the additional demand. The new flight, which will be launched on 01 February 2018, will be the airline's fourth return flight per day on the route.  

Proflight Zambia: adding more flights between Ndola and Lusaka

Proflight Zambia will predominantly operate one of its 29-seat Jetstream 41 aircraft, with periodic upgrades to a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ-100 jet, between the two destinations. The airline will continue with the flights until the end of March 2018 and then assess whether to continue with the additional flight.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia launched a new direct service between Ndola <> Kasama!

Proflight Zambia, the operator of the largest fleet of aircraft in Zambia, launched a new direct service between Ndola and Kasama today (17 January 2017). The new direct flight avoids travellers have to stay overnight in Lusaka when flying between the two locations. Instead, the airline has introduced a four-times-a-week circuit on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, alternating between Lusaka > Ndola > Kasama > Lusaka and Lusaka > Kasama > Ndola > Lusaka . The direct flight will depart Ndola at 12:45 on Tuesdays and Fridays, arriving in Kasama at 14:25. The flight will depart Kasama on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:35, arriving in Ndola at 12:15.

Ndola is the third largest city in Zambia and the industrial and commercial center of the Copperbelt, the country's copper-mining region. Kasama is the capital of the Northern Province of Zambia, situated on the central-southern African plateau at an elevation of about 1400 m.

Proflight Zambia, the operator of the largest fleet of aircraft in Zambia, will introduce scheduled flights between Ndola and Solwezi on 16 19 January 2017. The airline will operate three direct flights per week between the two cities. The Ndola > Solwezi flight will depart Ndola at 08:30hrs on Tuesdays and Fridays, arriving Solwezi at 09:30hrs. On Thursdays, the flight will depart Ndola at 13:35hrs, arriving Solwezi at 14:35. The return flight departs Solwezi at 09:55hrs on Tuesdays and Fridays, arriving Ndola at 10:55hrs. On Thursdays, the flight will depart Solwezi at 15:00hrs arriving Ndola at 16:00hrs.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia to launch for new domestic routes!

Proflight Zambia, the operator of the largest fleet of aircraft in Zambia, is set to launch four new domestic routes in Zambia. The airline will relaunch its direct Ndola <> Solwezi route in January 2017, along with Ndola <> Kasama flights. A Lusaka <> Kalabo service will begin on 15 March 2017, and a direct Mfuwe <> Lower Zambezi service between 15 June 2017 and 31 October 2017.

The Lusaka <> Kalabo route will be operated on a twice-weekly basis on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, leaving Lusaka at 08:15hrs and arriving in Kalabo at 10:45hrs. The return flight leaves Kalabo at 11:05hrs, arriving in Lusaka at 12:15hrs.
The Ndola <> Solwezi flight will depart Ndola at 08:30hrs on Tuesdays and Fridays, arriving Solwezi at 09:30hrs. On Thursdays, the flight will depart Ndola at 13:35hrs, arriving Solwezi at 14:35hrs. The return flight departs Solwezi at 09:55hrs on Tuesdays and Fridays, arriving Ndola at 10:55hrs. On Thursdays, the flight will depart Solwezi at 15:00hrs arriving Ndola at 16:00hrs.  
Ndola <> Kasama flights will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, leaving Ndola at 12:45hrs and arriving in Kasama at 14:25hrs. The return flight leaves Kasama on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:35 arriving Ndola at 12:15hrs.

Proflight Zambia to launch flights Ndola <> Lubumbashi (DRC)

Proflight Zambia, operator of the largest fleet of aircraft in Zambia, will launch a new route between Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA) in Ndola and Lubumbashi International Airport (FBM) in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. South African Airways to increase flights to five African destinations

South Africa's flag carrier, South African Airways (SAA), will increase the number of flights to five of its African destinations. The frequencies that will be increased are as follows:

  from 12 flights per week to 13 flights per week (13 Dec 2013)

  from 19 flights per week to 20 flights per week (13 Jan 2014)

From 07 Dec 2013 South African Airways (SAA) will no longer operate its own aircraft between Johannesburg and Kigali (Rwanda). The airline's new codeshare partner, RwandAir, will service the route instead.

Zambia: Proflight Zambia to temporarily cancel flights to Mansa

We just received notice via Proflight Zambia that Mansa Airport (IATA: MNS) in Mansa in Zambia's northern Luapula Province will be closed from 01 November 2013 for runway works. The airline has therefore canceled all fligths between Ndola and Mansa as well as between Lusaka and Mansa until at least 05 January 2014. Passengers already ticketed for flights to/from Mansa during the period 01 November 2013 to 05 January 2014 may apply for a full refund by sending their refund request to Proflight Zambia or change their flight to a later date without any change fees or penalties.
Proflight Zambia is an airline in Zambia. The airline operates domestic flights in Zambia as well as regional scheduled services to Lilongwe in Malawi and Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania.

Zambia to introduce new airport charge

update (02 Oct 2012): According to a post from Tongabezi Lodge (Livingstone, Zambia) on their facebook page, Zambia National Airports Corporation (NACL) announced that they would not be charging the new aviation and infrastructure charge on domestic and international flights. Can one confirm it? It is confirmed, the airport tax has been suspended until further notice.

The National Airports Corporation (NACL) of Zambia will introduce a new Aviation Infrastructure and Development charge. From 01 Sept 2012 01 Oct 2012, the charge will apply to all passengers travelling through Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International in Ndola, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone and Mfuwe International Airport in Mfuwe regardless of when their tickets were issued. The new Aviation Infrastructure and Development charge will be payable direct to the NACL airport offices along with departure and security taxes. Travellers on international flights will need to verify with their airline whether the charge is already included in their airfare or payable at the airport.

The charges are:

• Domestic: ZMK 28,000.00 (+/- R46 | €4.50 | GBP3.60 | US$5.60)
• International: ZMK 56,000.00 (+/- R92 | €9.10 | GBP7.20 | US$11.30)

Zambia's new president Michael Sata has renamed the country's three main airports after Zambian liberation heroes.
The new name of the airport in Zambia's capital Lusaka is Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. The airport was formely known as Lusaka International Airport.

South African Airways to fly to Ndola (Zambia) from 01 Oct 2011

Sóuth Africa's flag carrierr South African Airways (SAA) is set to commence operations to Ndola (Zambia) from 1 October 2011. The introduction of this new route will provide a convenient air connection between Sóuth Africa and Zambia. Ndola is not only the third-largest city in Zambia, it is also the heart of the copper belt and the country’s mining capital.
The route will be serviced by a Airbus A319 aircraft which accommodates 120 customers in a two class configuration, which includes business and economy class. SAA flights to Ndola will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. SAA is working closely with its partner,  SA Airlink, complementing their early morning departures from Johannesburg; to give customers increased travel options.
