Ethiopian Airlines introduces a new triangular route connecting Ethiopia, Zambia and Botswana!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia and Africa's largest airline in terms of passengers carried, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to introduce a new triangular route connecting Addis Ababa with two destinations in Zambia and Botswana. Effective 10 June 2024, the airline will operate three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NDL) in NdolaZambia, and Maun Airport (MUB) in Maun, Botswana. Ethiopian Airlines will use a 160-seat Boeing 737 MAX on the new route. Flights will depart Addis Ababa at 08:30 and arrive in Maun at 12:40. The connecting flight will depart at 13:30 and will arrive in Zambia's commercial capital at 15:30. The final leg of the triangular route will start in Ndola at 16:20 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 21:25.
Ndola is Zambia's ommercial capital city. The capital of Copperbelt Province lies just 10 kilometres from the border with DR Congo and about 320 kilometres north of Lusaka. Maun is Botswana's tourism capital. The city lies on the southern fringes of the Okavango Delta and is known as the gateway to the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site

Ethiopian Airlines introduces flights to a third destination city in Zimbabwe!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, has announced on twitter that it is set to launch flights to third destination city in Zimbabwe next to Harare and Victoria Falls. Effective 30 October 2022, the airline will introduce scheduled flights between Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport (BUQ) in Bulawayo.
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city, and the largest city in the country's Matabeleland is known as the gateway to Matobo National Park as well as Hwange National Park.

Botswana: Ethiopian Airlines has resumed flights to Gaborone!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, has resumed flights to Botswana on 14 November 2020. The airline operates two weekly flights on Saturdays and Tuesdays between Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE) in Gaborone via Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) in Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe (ADD > GBE only). Ethiopian Airlines suspended flights to Gaborone on 29 March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ethiopian Airlines to resume flights to South Africa!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to resume flights to South Africa. Effective 01 October 2020, the airline will restart scheduled commercial flights from Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town. Ethiopian Airlines did not release a flight schedule, but it seems that flights to Johannesburg will initially be operated daily and flights to Cape Town at least three times a week. We'll keep you posted!

Namibia: Ethiopian Airlines to resume flights between Addis Ababa <> Windhoek!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to return to Namibia. Effective 11 September 2020, the airline will operate four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek. Ethiopian Airlines' return to Namibia is part of the country's "Tourism Revival Initiative", which comes into effect today (01 September 2020). The airline is the first international airline to resume operations to Namibia.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch flights between Addis Ababa <> Athens!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to resume flights between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Athens International Airport (ATH) in Athens as a stopover on its flight to Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME) in Moscow, Russia. Effective 13 December 2019, the airline will operate three weekly flights from Addis Ababa to Athens on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and three weekly flights from Athens to Addis Ababa on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Ethiopian Airlines last operated flights to Athens 18 years ago. The Greek capitol is the airline's 17th destination in Europe.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch flights to Beira in Mozambique! [update]

update (26 August 2019): From 03 September 2091, Ethiopian Airlines will initially operate flights to Beira via Ndola in Zambia. From 02 November 2019, the airline will switch the routing to Addis Ababa - Blantyre - Beira - Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to launch a new service to the city of Beira in central Mozambique via Blantyre in Malawi. Effective 03 September 2019 the airline will operate three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to Mozambique's fourth largest city. The commencement of this direct international flight to/from Beira and Addis Ababa will enable international passengers from Europe, North America, Middle East and Asia to enjoy seamless connections to/from Pemba, Nampula, Nacala and Tete with Ethiopian Mozambiqe Airline's domestic service.  Based in Maputo, Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines serves 8 domestic points in Mozambique including the capital Maputo, Nampula, Tete, Pemba, Beira, Nacala, Quelimane, Vilankulos and Chimoio.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch flights between Addis Ababa <> Bangalore (Bengaluru)!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to launch scheduled flights between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bangalore (Bengaluru), India. Effective 27 October 2019, the airline will operate four weekly direct flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays to the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Currently, Ethiopian Airlines operates passenger flights to two destinations in India, namely Mumbai and Delhi.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch flights to Houston (USA)! [update]

update (13 September 2019): Ethiopian Airlines has once again re-opened reservations for its new service between Addis AbabaLomé Houston. The new launch date is 16 December 2019.

update (26 August 2019): Ethiopian Airlines has removed Houston bookings, previously scheduled from 14 December 2019.

update (08 May 2019): According to RoutesOnline, Ethiopian Airlines has closed reservation for its planned service between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston in Texas (USA) via Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW) in Lomé, scheduled to commence on 23 June 2019.

According to RoutesOnline, Ethiopian Airlines is set to launch scheduled services between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston in Texas (USA) via Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW) in Lomé, Togo. Effective 23 June 2019, the airline will operate this route three times a week. Ethiopian Airlines currently operates flights to four destinations in the United States (Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Chicago and New York City) as well as to Toronto in Canada.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch direct flights between Addis Ababa <> Istanbul!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to start scheduled direct services between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) in Istanbul, Turkey. Effective 01 April 2019, the airline will operate three weekly return flights to Turkey. Istanbul marks Ethiopian Airlines' 19th destination in Europe. The airline is currently serving a total of 119 international destinations across five continents.

Ethiopian Airlines to increase flights between Addis Ababa - Seoul - Tokyo!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, will increase flights between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Narita International Airport (NRT) in Tokyo, Japan, via Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul, South Korea. Effective 17 June 2019, the airline will offer five weekly return flights on board a Boeing 787-8 to South Korea and Japan. The additional flight will be operated on Mondays.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch flights to Livingstone!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to introduce flights to Livingstone in Zambia on 17 June 2019. The airline will operate three weekly flights between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI) in Livingstone, Zambia, via Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE) in Gaborone, Botswana, on board a Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft.

Ethiopian Airlines introduces free transit tours in Addis Ababa for international passengers!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, will extend its free transit tour to global passengers as of 01 February 2019. The new complimentary city tour package takes transiting passengers with 6 to 8 hours' time in Addis Ababa on a journey through one of the landmarks of the city, the National Museum, accompanied with a taste of Ethiopian Coffee and souvenir shopping and make them experience the unique flavors of the political capital of Africa during their brief stay. The city tour package is organized by ET Holidays, the tour operator wing of Ethiopian Airlines.

RwandAir to launch direct flights between Kigali <> Addis Ababa!

Rwanda's flag carrier, RwandAir, is set to launch scheduled direct flights between Kigali International Airport (KGL) in Kigali and Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa in April 2019. The airline will operate five flights per week on board a Bombardier CRJ-900NG aircraft between the two destinations. Addis Ababa will be Rwandair's 27th destination in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Ethiopian Airlines: Flight from Addis Ababa to Los Angeles to transit via Lome in Togo!

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, announced that it has changed the ultra-long haul route from Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa to Los Angeles International Airpor (LAX) in Los Angeles to transit through Tokoin International Airport (LFW) in Lome, Togo as of 17 December 2018 and will start new route from Addis Ababa to Dublin Airport (DUB) in Dublin via Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid as of 15 December 2018. 
The new route, which be operated on board the most technologically advanced Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, will be the only and first of its kind to connect West Africa with the West Coast of the USA with a direct flight.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch flights between Addis Ababa <> Moscow! [update]

update (28 November 2018): According to routesonline, Ethiopian Airlines' planned service to Moscow is now delayed to mid-December 2018 (as a nonstop flight instead of 1-stop) while the service to Istanbul is delayed to March 2019.   

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to launch flights between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME) in Moscow via Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) in Istanbul, Turkey, on 01 December 2018 on board a 787 Dreamliner. Ethiopian Airlines' new service will connect the capital of Russia with 59 cities in Africa.

Ethiopian Airlines to increase flights between Addis Ababa <> Oslo!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to increase flights between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Oslo Airport (OSL) in Oslo, Norway. From 11 December 2018, the airline will operate six weekly return flights on board a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner to Norway instead of the current five return flights per week. Ethiopian Airlines launched the route between Addis Ababa and Oslo in March 2017.

Ethiopian Airlines to launch seasonal service to Lisbon (Portugal)!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, will launch a seasonal service between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon via Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid on 28 October 2018. The airline will operate four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays on board a Boeing 737 Dreamliner on the new route. The service will initially run until 29 March 2019. Ethopian Airlines has ended its service between Addis Ababa and Barcelona via Madrid today (15 August 2018).

Ethiopia: Ethiopian Airlines to suspend flights between Addis Ababa <> Barcelona!

The flag carrier of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to suspend its service between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and El Prat Airport (BCN) in Barcelona via Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid from 15 August 2018. The airline launched the service to Barcelona only on 01 July 2018. According to Ethiopian Airlines, the decision to terminate flights to the Spanish city was made due to operational difficulties. The airline will continue to operate four weekly flights between Addis Ababa and Madrid

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to launch new flight services between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and El Prat Airport (BCN) in Barcelona via Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid. Effective 01 July 2018, the airline will operate four weekly flights to Barcelona on board a Boeing 787– 800 Dreamliner. Barcelona is Ethiopian Airlines' 13th destination in Europe.
