Namibia and Russia scrap visa requirements!

According to TASS, largest Russian news agency, the Governments of Namibia and Russia have agreed on the mutual abolishment of visa requirements. The agreement, which was already signed in April 2021, comes into effect from 02 August 2021. It allows citizens of the Russian Federation to enter Namibia and stay there without visas for 90 days every 180 days, unless their purpose of their entry is labor, education or permanent residence in the country. The same rights are granted to the citizens of Namibia when visiting the Russian Federation.

Rossiya Airlines has launched a seasonal direct service between Moscow <> Zanzibar!

Russian airline Rossiya Airlines has launched a seasonal direct service between Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) in Moscow, Russia, and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania, on 27 October 2019. Flights from Moscow to Zanzibar are carried out every Saturday, while the return flights from Zanzibar to Moscow are carried out every Sunday. Rossiya Airlines operates the route on board a 552-seat Boeing 747-400.

Russia and Botswana to go visa-free!

A visa-waiver agreement between Russia and Botswana will take effect on 08 October 2019. Under the agreement, citizens of Russia and Botswana who don't plan to work, study or permanently reside in the other country, don't need a visa to enter and stay in the country or travel by transit, provided that their stay does not exceed 30 days. The total duration of stay cannot exceed 90 days in any 180-day period. The  intergovernmental visa waiver agreement was signed by the Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, and Botswana's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Unity Dow, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2019.

 

Ethiopian Airlines to launch flights between Addis Ababa <> Moscow! [update]

update (28 November 2018): According to routesonline, Ethiopian Airlines' planned service to Moscow is now delayed to mid-December 2018 (as a nonstop flight instead of 1-stop) while the service to Istanbul is delayed to March 2019.   

Ethiopia's flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is set to launch flights between Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME) in Moscow via Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) in Istanbul, Turkey, on 01 December 2018 on board a 787 Dreamliner. The airline will operate three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Addis Ababa to Moscow and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Moscow to Addis Ababa. Ethiopian Airlines' new service will connect the capital of Russia with 59 cities in Africa.

South Africa & Russia: Visa-free regime from 01 April 2017!

update (30 March 2017): According to a tweet by the Government of South Africa, the new visa regime comes into effect from 01 April 2017.

South Africa and Russia have agreed on a mutual visa free regime that comes into effect on 30 March 2017. Russians travelling for leisure to South Africa will be free from visa requirements and can enter, stay or transit without a visa for a duration of up to 90 days; the same goes for travellers from South Africa visiting Russia.
