Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) will increase the passenger departure tax for international and domestic flights in Kenya from 01 July 2012. International departure charges will double from US$20 to US$40 and domestic departures will increase from the current 300 Kenya Shillings (Ksh) to 500 Kenya Shillings (Ksh) per sector flown. The charge is normally included in the tickets and carriers reckon that they will increase fares in line with the passenger fee.
According to Kenya Airports Authority communications manager Dominic Ngigi, the service charged collected will be used for the the on-going improvement of Kenya's airports. (src.)
