Kenya: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport's new Greenfield Terminal (computer rendition)

Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the construction of a new Ksh55.5 billion (US$654 million) terminal at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on 03 December 2013. The two-phased construction work is expected to be complete by 2017. The construction of the new terminal began immediately.

 

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport's new Greenfield Terminal will have:
  • a handling capacity of 20 million passengers annually
  • 60 check-in points (50 international & 10 domestic)
  • 32 boarding bridges
  • 8 remote gates
  • 45 aircraft parking stands on the linked apron space
  • linking taxiways
  • a state of the art train station
  • a bus park
The new terminial will have a capacity to handle traffic of 3,133 international passengers in a typical peak hour; 2,403 transiting passengers in a typical peak hour; and 845 domestic passengers in a typical peak hour.

  • Construction of Terminal Four
  • Interim Terminal
  • Redesign of Terminals 1, 2 and 3
  • Second Runway
  • Remote Stands/ Bussing Gates
