South African airline Airlink will launch a new Cape Town <> Lanseria route on 04 December 2026, giving travellers another option for flights between Cape Town and Gauteng.
The airline will initially operate two daily return flights, seven days a week, using Embraer E190 aircraft with 98 seats. This will be Airlink's first scheduled domestic service to Lanseria International Airport (HLA).
Lanseria International Airport (HLA) is located northwest of Johannesburg, in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, near Randburg and Sandton. The airport is accessed via the R512 and N14 and is generally more convenient for travellers staying in or travelling to northern and western parts of Johannesburg and Gauteng than OR Tambo International Airport (JNB). It is also a practical option for travellers continuing towards Pretoria or North West province, depending on their final destination.
From 04 December 2026, the schedule will be:
| Flight | Route | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4Z 965 | HLA–CPT | 09:10 | 11:35 |
| 4Z 962 | CPT–HLA | 09:20 | 11:35 |
| 4Z 966 | CPT–HLA | 13:30 | 15:45 |
| 4Z 963 | HLA–CPT | 13:00 | 15:25 |
Airlink plans to increase the route to four daily return flights from 22 March 2027. The additional flight times have not yet been published.
For travellers heading to western Johannesburg, western Gauteng or parts of North West province, Lanseria International Airport (HLA) may provide a more convenient alternative to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), depending on their final destination.
