South African Airways to streamline service to Washington, D.C.!

South Africa's flag carrier, South African Airways, will adjust its service between OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and Dulles International Airport IAD) in Washington, D.C.. As of 05 September 2019, the airline will operate all flights to and from Washington, D.C. via Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra (Ghana). The routing via Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) in Dakar (Senegal) will be terminated. South African Airways will also increase the service via Accra from the current five to seven weekly fligths. The flights will be operated on board a mix of Airbus A330-200 and Airbus A330-300 aircraft. South African Airways' last flight via Dakar will be operated on 01 September 2019.

Air Namibia suspended its service to Lagos & Accra!

Namibia's flag carrier, Air Namibia, has suspended its service between Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek and Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana, via Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos, Nigeria, effective today, 24 May 2019. The airline launched the route at the end of June 2018. According to a statement by Air Namibia, the load factor performance of the route dropped from average 55% attained during June 2018 to January 2019, to between 35% and 38% during February to April 2019. Affected passengers will be assisted by accommodating them on flights operated by Air Namibia's partner airlines at the airline's cost, or they will be refunded if they opt not to fly anymore.

South African Airways increased flights between Washington, D.C. (USA) <> Accra (Ghana)!

South Africa's flag carrier, South African Airways, has increased its nonstop service between Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington, D.C. and Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana, and onwards to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa, to five days weekly. The airline's increase of flights on the route will also serve to support the partnership with Ghanaian airline company Africa World Airlines by offering seamless connections between Accra and additional destinations in West Africa including Lagos Abuja (Nigeria), Monrovia (Liberia) and Freetown (Sierra Leone).
South African Airways offers the only nonstop flight between Washington, D.C. and Ghana and offers travellers convenient connections to and from over 100 cities across the U.S. and Canada through its Star Alliance partner, United Airlines via Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington, D.C.. In addition, South African Airways will continue to operate flights between Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington, D.C. and Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) in Dakar, Senegal and onwards to Johannesburg, two days per week.

Air Namibia to launch flights to Lagos & Accra!

Namibia's flag carrier, Air Namibia, will commence its service between Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek and Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana, via Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos, Nigeria, on 29 June 2018. The airline will service the new route with an Airbus A319, offering a seat configuration of 16 business class and 96 economy class seats as well as two tonnes of cargo space. Air Namibia initially planned to launch the service to West Africa in March 2018, but had to postpone it due to external factors.

Namibia's flag carrier, Air Namibia, has postponed the launch of scheduled flights to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos, Nigeria, and to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana, from 25 March 2018 to 29 June 2018. According to a statement by the airline, the postponement is due to external factors such as the non-availability of a departure slot at Kotoka International Airport (ACC) to support the initial scheduled departure at 22:05.

Air Namibia to launch flights to Lagos & Accra!

Namibia's flag carrier, Air Namibia, is set to launch flights to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos, Nigeria, and to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana, on 25 March 2018. The routing for the two new destinations will be Windhoek - Lagos - Accra and the return will be Accra - Lagos - Windhoek. Air Namibia will operate four weekly flights between Windhoek's Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), Lagos and Accra on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on board an Airbus A319-100 aircraft.

Air Namibia suspends Windhoek <> Accra

Namibia's flag carrier, Air Namibia, will suspends its flights between Windhoek and Accra in Ghana from 26 June 2014. According to the airline, limited traffic numbers are a major reason for the termination of the route. Passengers booked on a flight beyond the termination date are advised to contact Air Namibia to get booked on partner airlines servicing Accra.

According to the aviation specialists at airlineroute.net (kudos!), Zimbabwe's national carrier Air Zimbabwe is planning to change its schedule from 31 March 2013 as follows:

• Bulawayo <> Johannesburg
  3x weekly flights on board a Xian MA60 from 01 April 2013
• Harare <> Bulawayo
  4x weekly terminator service on board a Xian MA60 from 31 March 2013
  overall service to Bulawayo increases from existing 3x weekly to 7x weekly flights
• Harare - Bulawayo - Victoria Falls
  3x weekly flights instead of 4x weekly flights on board a Xian MA60 instead of a Boeing 737
• Harare <> Johannesburg
  daily service instead of 3x weekly on board Airbus A320 instead of Boeing 767-200ER
• Harare <> Victoria Falls
  4x weekly terminator service from 31 March 2013
  overall service to Victoria Falls increases from 4x weekly flights to 7x weekly flights

Air Zimbabwe seems also to be planing to operate a 3x weekly service between Harare - Accra (Ghana) - Lagos (Nigeria) - Harare on board an Airbus A320 from 02 April 2013 as well as to resume 2x weekly flights between Harare <> London-Gatwick on board a Boeing 767-200ER from 01 July 2013.
