Botswana's Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism announced on 26 October 2020 that the country will permit private charter flights into Botswana again from 01 November 2020. The private charter flights will be allowed to land at two ports of entry namely, Maun Airport (MUB) in Maun and Kasane International Airport (BBK) in Kasane. Both airports are located in the North-West District of Botswana.
The Government of Botswana is finalising the required legislative framework to facilitate such air travel which will include protocols for compliance.

KwaZulu-Natal: Margate Airport (MGH) in Margate is getting a facelift!
Margate Airport (MGH) in Margate, a seaside resort town on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, is getting a facelift. The upgrade includes the extension of the airport's arrivals section, the refurbishment of ablution facilities as well as a new building for car hire services and a controlled paid parking area with a boom gate system. The facelift of Margate Airport wil cost about R10m (€505 266), which are provided by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs. The sod-turning ceremony already took place on 26 June 2020. The project is expected to be completed in around six months. We'll keep you posted!

Zimbabwe is finalising on modalities for the gradual reopening of airports! [update]
update (03 September 2020): The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) announced on twitter, that the opening of domestic flights in Zimbabwe has been approved. The country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development will make an announcement any time soon.
Zimbabwe's Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa, announced during a post-cabinet briefing on 01 September 2020 that the Government is finalising on modalities for the gradual reopening of airports to support the resumption of the tourism sector in the country. According to the Minister, Zimbabwe is planing to resume domestic flights first and international flights later. As of 02 September 2020, Zimbabwe has 6 559 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 203 deaths, although recoveries have reached 5 241. We'll keep you posted!

Rwanda reopens its airports for scheduled commercial flights!
Rwanda's Ministry of Infrastructure on Saturday (04 July 2020) announced the reopening of the country's airports for scheduled commercial flights on 01 August 2020. All passengers, including those in transit, will be required to show proof of a Covid-19 PCR negative test from a certified laboratory, taken within 72 hours of arriving in Rwanda. For passengers entering Rwanda, a second Covid-19 PCR test will be conducted upon arrival, with results delivered within 24 hours during which time they will remain in designated hotels at own cost.Rwanda closed its airports to commercial flights on 20 March 2020. On 17 June 2020, the Rwanda Airports Company (RAC) opened up airports including the Kigali International Airport (KGL) in Kigali for private and chartered flights.
As of 05 July 2020, Rwanda has 535 active cases of Covid-19 and three deaths. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 1105; 567 patients have recovered and been discharged. (WHO)
