|Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park: Fuel up before you arrive — Sendelingsdrift's 95 unleaded fuel pump Is down

Planning a self-drive into the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park via Sendelingsdrift? South African National Parks (SANParks) has confirmed that the 95 unleaded fuel pump at Sendelingsdrift is currently experiencing technical difficulties.

Visitors are being asked to fill up with 95 unleaded fuel outside the park before arrival, until further notice.

What this means for your trip

The pump fault affects unleaded 95 only — there's no indication diesel is affected by this particular notice, though |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park's fuel supply has had a rocky few months generally, so it's worth checking both fuel types before you set off.

How to plan around it

  • Fill up fully before you leave tar — Springbok on the N7 is your last guaranteed stop.
  • Carry extra 95 unleaded fuel in jerry cans.
  • Plan your route and distances in advance rather than improvising once inside.
  • Check with SANParks shortly before you travel to confirm whether the pump is back in service.
