Air China has resumed flights between China <> South Africa!

Air China, the flag carrier of the People's Republic of China, has resumed flights to South Africa on 29 March 2023. The airline, which last flew to the country three years ago, just before the Covid-19 pandemic, operates three weekly flights between Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) in Beijing and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg via Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) in Shenzhen

Air China to operate flights between Beijing <> Johannesburg via Shenzhen!

Air China, the flag carrier of the People's Republic of China, is set to adjust its service between Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) in Beijing and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. Effective 03 January 2019, the airline will operate the service to/from South Africa via Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) in Shenzhen, so that the new routing will be Beijing - Shenzhen - Johannesburg. Air China continues to operate three weekly flights on board a Boeing 777-300ER.

South African Airways and Air China sign new codeshare agreement!

Chinese airline Air China (CA) and South Africa's flag carrier, South African Airways (SAA), have signed a new codeshare agreement. The agreement enables South African Airways to put its code on Air China's newly inaugurated non-stop service between Beijing and Johannesburg as well as destinations beyond Beijing to Chengdu, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Chongqing. Air China in turn puts its code on South African Airways' services between Johannesburg to Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth. The codeshare agreement is open for sale from 25 August 2015, for travel effective 29 October 2015.

Air China to launch direct flights to South Africa in October 2015!

The national flag carrier of China, Air China, will launch direct flights between Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) in Beijing, China, and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 29 October 2015. The airline will operate three flights a week between the two destinations, codesharing with South African Airways (SAA). Flights will depart Beijing at 23:15 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, arriving in Johannesburg at 07:55. Return flights from Johannesburg will depart at 11:50 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, arriving the following day in Beijing at 07:30.

Air China to launch flights Beijing <> Johannesburg!

The national flag carrier of China, Air China, will launch direct flights between Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) in Beijing, China, and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 30 Aug 2015. The airline will operate three fligths per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays on board a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft between the two destinations.

Air China to launch direct flights to South Africa!

update (25 March 2015): According to aviation specialists airlineroute.net, Air China will launch a three-weekly service between Beijing and Johannesburg on 30 Aug 2015. The airline will operate a Boeing 777-300ER on the route.

update (11 Feb 2015): At current stage it is unclear when South African Airways' (SAA) codeshare with Air China will start. It is therefor also unclear when Air China will begin operating flights between Bejing in China and Johannesburg in South Africa. According to Tourism Update, SAA, which will discontinue its direct flights from Beijing with effect from 29 March 2015, cannot confirm how passengers already booked on flights on the route from 29 March 2015 onwards will be re-accommodated.

According to Tourism Update, one of the major airlines of the People's Republic of China, Air China, will launch direct flights between Beijing Capital International Airport in Bejing and Cape Town via Johannesburg (45min layover) in March May 2015. The introduction of the route is part of the strengthening of Air China's codeshare agreement with South African Airways. We will keep you posted!

South African Airways & Air China signed code-share agreement

South Africa's flag carrier, South African Airways (SAA), has announced a code share agreement with China's flag carrier, Air China, that will complement SAA’s recently inaugurated non-stop service between Johannesburg and Beijing.
Both airlines, which are members of Star Alliance, will introduce code-share services on the main route (Johannesburg <> Beijing) that was launched by SAA on 31 January 2012. The agreement calls for South African Airways to offer flights with the "SA" code on Air China-operated flights between Beijing and Shanghai. Air China will in return be able to offer flights with its "CA" code on SAA’s service between Beijing and Johannesburg.
The new flight options are available for booking and purchase since 28 February 2012 and for travel since 01 March 2012.
