Germany's flag carrier Lufthansa will re-introduce its seasonal flights between Frankfurt and Cape Town on 31 October 2011. The additional daily non-stop flights increase the airline’s capacity to around 60% over a period of five months to meet the demand needed during South Africa’s summer season. Lufthansa will be operating a Boeing 747-400 on its direct flights to Cape Town.
The airline is also running daily non-stop flights between Frankfurt and Johannesburg using the Airbus A380 throughout the year.
Lufthansa is the the largest airline in Europe as well as the world's fourth-largest airline in terms of overall passengers carried. The airline is operating services to 18 domestic destinations and 203 international destinations in 78 countries across Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe. Lufthansa is a founding member of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance.
