Zimbabwe: National Railways of Zimbabwe has increased fares on its inter-city passenger trains!

National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), the parastatal railway of Zimbabwe, has increased passenger fares on its inter-city passenger trains, which connect Bulawayo <> Victoria Falls, Bulawayo <> Harare, Mutare <> Harare (all daily) as well as Bulawayo <> Chiredzi and Bulawayo <> Chikwalakwala (all weekly). According to NRZ Public Relations Manager, Mr Nyasha Maravanyika, the increase is due to rising operational expenses. The increase affects all the three classes with effect from 25 February 2019.

Fastjet includes checked bags & snacks/refreshments in airfare!

Pan-African airline Fastjet now includes one piece of checked luggage as well as a snack and/or refreshment in all tickets sold. Previously, the airline charged all luggage and on-board snacks separately. The new, inclusive fare product is available on all new routes as well as existing network points since 06 August 2018.
Fastjet recently launched daily flights between Harare and Bulawayo in Zimbabwe, added an additional frequency between Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Harare on Wednesdays and introduced double daily flights between Maputo and Beira in Mozambique. The airline also intends to launch additional routes in both Tanzania and Mozambique and has detailed plans to introduce scheduled services in South Africa later this year.

Zimbabwe: Air Zimbabwe directy collects the Passenger Service Charge & AIDEF from its passengers again!

update (01 February 2018): Due to some logistical challenges, Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) & Air Zimbabwe had to postpone the reinstatement of then Passenger Service Charge (PSC) and the Aviation Infastructure Develepment Fund (AIDEF) payments!

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has informed the public that with effect from 01 February 2018, all tickets issued by the flag carrier of Zimbabwe, Air Zimbabwe, will include the Passenger Service Charge (PSC) and the Aviation Infastructure Develepment Fund (AIDEF) payment again. Due to "some policy changes" in November 2014, the CAAZ currently collects the PSC and AIDEF directly from passengers of Air Zimbabwe.

2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN): Tickets go on sale on 29 Nov 2013

South Africa hosts the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) from 11 January 2014 to 01 February 2014. Tickets for the event, which will be available at Shoprite, Checkers and all Computicket outlets countrywide, go on sale on 29 November 2013 and will cost as little as R40 - up to a maximum of R200. According to Local Organising Committee (LOC) CEO Mvuzo Mbebe, the tickets will be sold in three discount phases, varying from up 20% discount for the 1st Phase (29 Nov 2013 - 05 Jan 2014), and up 15% and 10% for 2nd (06 Jan - 18 Jan 2014) and 3rd phases (19 Jan 2014 - 22 Jan 2014), respectively.
The 16 countries vying for the Championship are: Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe and the host nation South Africa. The host cities of the tournament are Cape Town (Cape Town Stadium & Athlone Stadium), Polokwane (Peter Mokaba Stadium) and Mangaung/Bloemfontein (Free State Stadium).

South Africa: Kulula signs interline agreement with British Airways

British Airways and kulula.com, both operated by Comair Limited in South Africa, have announced an official interline agreement. Domestic and regional flights of both airlines can now be combined on a single ticket. Passengers are having the option of booking their journey with a combination of kulula.com and British Airways domestic flights or connecting from a kulula.com flight to the British Airways Southern African regional network, which includes Harare, Livingstone, Victoria Falls, Windhoek as well as Mauritius. The new agreement will also see  British Airways flights between Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth return to the kulula.com website.
Customers who are members of the British Airways Executive Club or any oneworld participating carrier's frequent flyer programme, will continue to earn loyalty points when booking and flying with British Airways.

Cape Town: Table Mountain Aerial Cableway - new rates from 01 Oct 2011

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway in Cape Town has announced its new rates, valid from 01 October 2011 to 30 September 2012.
From 01 October 2011 online tickets will cost R85 for children return and R43 one-way. A return pass for adults is R175 and R92 one-way.
Ticket office rates for children are R95 return and R50 one-way. Adult rates are R195 return and R100 one-way.
Concession rates are valid only on Fridays, where South African senior citizens pay R95 for a return pass and R50 one-way. Student rates are R125 return and R65 one-way.

2010 World Cup ticket sales update

FIFA will make more tickets available for the 2nd round matches between Uruguay and South Korea and Argentina vs. Mexico. The tickets are coming back from teams that were eliminated in Round one of the 2010 World Cup, such as France or South Africa.

2010 ticket sales update - FIFA releases additional tickets

FIFA will introduce two additional ticketing products the world football governing body announced on Saturday.
The two products, the "Partially Obstructed View Tickets" and "Premier Tickets", will be available from Monday, June 7 only at the 11 FIFA Ticketing Centres.
FIFA's Ticketing Sub-Committee Chairman, Horst R. Schmidt, said they are experiencing a high last minute demand for tickets in South Africa and so it made sense for them to create two additional ticketing products.
"We decided to introduce two additional ticketing products to the general public. We have similarly done this in the previous FIFA World Cups," he said.
About 15 000 Partially Obstructed View Tickets sold at the price of category 4 tickets will be made available. All of them will be located close to the pitch.
About 38 000 Premier Tickets with prices ranging from R1 400 to R2 100 will be made available. These will include lounge seats and complimentary beverages.
Schmidt reiterated that tickets will not be available at FNB branches, FIFA.com, Shoprite/Checkers or the Call Centre.

2010 World Cup - ticket sales in numbers UPDATE

The third ticketing sales of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ has hit the 500 000 mark within the first ten days.

• USA - 22 942 tickets
• UK - 20 232 tickets
• Mexico - 7 981 tickets
• Germany - 7 697 tickets
• Australia - 6 277 ticktets
• Brazil - 4 760 tickets
• the remaining 44 348 tickets were bought from fans from around the world.
  

In total, ticket applications from 166 countries have been received.
The current third Ticket Sales Phase will run until 22 January 2010.
In total, about one million tickets for all 64 matches and categories are made available in the third sales phase including a limited number for the opening match and the final.
All applications within the sales phase will be treated equally. In an event of over-subscribed matches or price categories, there will be an electronic random selection draw on 1 February 2010.

2010 World Cup™ - Ticket sales in numbers

So far a total of 674,403 World Cup 2010™ tickets have been sold. 53.6% of those tickets have been sold to South African residents. Football fans from the US purchased 84,103 tickets up to now, followed by the UK (48,388 tickets), Germany (25,112 tickets), Australia (17,876 tickets), Canada (11,662), Switzerland (11,045 tickets), Japan (10,558 tickets) and Brazil with 8,006 tickets. 90% of the tickets made available to date are sold!



About one million tickets for all 64 matches and categories will become available in the 3rd sales phase starting at the 05 Dec 2009 – including a limited number for the opening match and the final. Fans will have to apply within 49 days (until 22 January 2010) for individual match tickets or Team-Specific Series.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2010 World Cup™ in South Africa just announced some more stats:

update: (18 Nov 09): Second 2010 ticket sales phase extended until 20 November 2009

update (16 Nov 09): 668 525 tickets have been sold so far. 356 285 of those in the south Africa - US (84 034), UK (48 274) and Germany (25 024).

• 650 527 tickets have been sold so far
• 345 894 went to South Africans while 304 633 went to overseas fans
• fans from the US bought 82 603 tickets so far
• fans from the UK bought 48 926 tickets &
• fans from Germany bought 23 924 tickets.

2010 LOC boss Danny Jordaan said the ticket sales by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and other African countries were disappointing.

2010 World Cup ticket sales phases: We are currently in the 2nd sales which is ending at the 16 Nov 2009. During this phase all tickets will be attributed based on the order in which the application was received, and, of course, subject to availability. The 3rd sales phase is starting at the 5 Dec 2009, a day after the final draw in Cape Town and will last to the 22 Jan 2010. All correctly submitted applications received during this stage will be considered for allocation. If the number of applications for Match or Team Specific tickets exceeds the number of tickets available, tickets will be allocated by a random selection draw taking place on 1 February 2010. Please note: it makes no difference whether you apply early, on 5 December 2009, or late, on 22 January 2010. Each correctly submitted application will have the same opportunity of being successful in the draw.

Confederations Cup: Free tickets from FIFA

Sport24.co.za is reporting that FIFA has decided give dish out free tickets for the Confederations Cup in an attempt to fill the thousands of empty seats in the stadiums.
Sport24 is quoting FIFA spokesperson Nicolas Maingot saying that tickets for football fans will be given to institutions which have been very supportive of the event. The spokesperson didn'nt mention the amount of tickets, but they be for some of the remaining group matches.

Except for the opening match South Africa vs. Iraq at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg all other matches have been nowhere near capacity.

Confed Cup tickets selling well

According to FIFA some 383 506 tickets, or 63 percent of the total 640 000 tickets available, had been sold by 21 May.

Tickets for several matches in various categories are sold out:

• Match 1 (South Africa vs Iraq): category 3 and 4
• Match 3 (Brasil vs Egypt): category 4
• Match 4 (USA vs Italy): category 4
• Match 7 (USA vs Brasil): category 2, 3 and 4

Category four tickets are the cheapest tickets and are available exclusively to South African residents in Rands. For the group matches and the third place match, category four tickets go for R70 only.
Categories one to three tickets are available in foreign currency to football fans living outside the country.
Category one tickets are for seats alongside the pitch, between the goal lines.
Category two tickets are for seats next to category one seats, in the corners
Categories three and four tickets are for seats behind the goals or in the corners.
