About 97% of the 2010 World Cup tickets have been sold so far and FIFA is expecting to have sold 98% (or even more) of the 3.01 million tickets available by the end of the tournament on 11 July 2010.
Two days ago, 135,000 of the 3.01 million tickets available for purchase remained unsold. Of those, 30,600 (including 5 000 with partially obscured views) were available for public sale on Wednesday. The remaining roughly 105,000 tickets, which had been allocated for hospitality packages, tour companies, national federations and teams, will be available for sale later in the tournament if not demanded.

2010 ticket sales update - FIFA releases additional tickets
FIFA will introduce two additional ticketing products the world football governing body announced on Saturday.
The two products, the "Partially Obstructed View Tickets" and "Premier Tickets", will be available from Monday, June 7 only at the 11 FIFA Ticketing Centres.
FIFA's Ticketing Sub-Committee Chairman, Horst R. Schmidt, said they are experiencing a high last minute demand for tickets in South Africa and so it made sense for them to create two additional ticketing products.
"We decided to introduce two additional ticketing products to the general public. We have similarly done this in the previous FIFA World Cups," he said.
About 15 000 Partially Obstructed View Tickets sold at the price of category 4 tickets will be made available. All of them will be located close to the pitch.
About 38 000 Premier Tickets with prices ranging from R1 400 to R2 100 will be made available. These will include lounge seats and complimentary beverages.
Schmidt reiterated that tickets will not be available at FNB branches, FIFA.com, Shoprite/Checkers or the Call Centre.

2010 World Cup ticket sales update
FIFA Secretary-General Jerome Valcke just told the media that the number of seats at the World Cup has jumped by 100,000 to more than three million. Due to revised seating plans and allocations the additional 100,000 seats became available.
The percentage of seats sold will probably be slightly higher than at the 2006 World Cup inGermany. FIFA is currently expecting to sell 97% of all tickets which is pretty close

South Africa: Highest demand ever for World Cup tickets
The sale of 2010 FIFA World Cup tickets has seen the highest demand since the start of the last sales phase on 15 April 2010, FIFA said.
It said since 9am on Friday 28 May, a total of 100 000 tickets were sold and that 14 matches are no longer available, including the Final, the Semi-Finals and the 3 Group Games of Bafana Bafana.
Of the 100 000 tickets, about 53 000 have been sold through FNB branches, 30 000 through Internet and Call Centre, 13 500 through the FIFA Ticketing Centres and 3 500 through Shoprite/Checkers.
South African fans came out in numbers to purchase the tickets that were put on sale to the general public on Friday, despite initial technical problems which affected all sales channels.
"We are very impressed by the enthusiasm shown today by all fans and especially those in South Africa towards the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
"We have seen a huge demand for tickets from the local fans, in the true spirit of this 'football Friday'. We are very thankful for the patience shown by the fans and once again would like to apologise to all the fans that have been affected by the problems in the ticketing sales system today", said FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke.

2010 World Cup ticket sales update
Jerome Valcke of FIFA told the media on the official handover of Cape Town stadium to FIFA that another 164,000 90,000 World Cup tickets are going on sale on Friday (28 May 2010). The 164,000 90,000 tickets are including tickets for every match varying from 200 tickets for the South Africa-France game in Bloemfontein to 2000 tickets for the semifinals.
In total there are about 160,000 tickets still available for the public. According to FIFA sales of these tickets will bring the total sold to 98% of the 2.88 million originally available.
The new164,000 90,000 tickets will be sold at the usual outlets in South Africa, and through Fifa's website.

2010 World Cup ticket sales updates
More than 230,000 tickets have been sold during the current fifth (and last) ticket sales phase. 270,000 tickets (less than 10% of the total 3 Mio. tickets) are still available from Fifa.com, 11 ticketing centres, 18 selected Shoprite/Checkers and more than 600 FNB branches in South Africa. Johannesburg - which will host the opening and final matches - and Pretoria are sold out but there are still many tickets available for matches in Polokwane, Port Elizabeth and Nelspruit.
Host country South Africa is leading the total ticket sales with approximately 1,150,000 tickets purchased by locals. The United States follows with around 130,000, the UK at 97,000, Australia at 43,000, Germany 40,000, Mexico 36,000, Japan 22,000, Brazil 18,000, Canada 17,000 and Switzerland 16,000.

2010 World Cup ticket sales updates
According to FIFA the 2010 World Cup in South Africa is expected to have a spectator turnout of 95-97% - numbers also achieved in Germany in 2006. Football World's governing body is very confident that the remaining 300,000 tickets will be sold before kick off on 11 June 2010 in Johannesburg. Fifa president Sepp Blatter was quotet saying: "If we can sell so many tickets in eight days, what can stop us from selling 300 000 in the next days left."

2010 World Cup - international ticket sales after 4th sales phase
According to the South African newspaper Daily Dispatch (East London) almost 119,000 World Cup tickets were purchased by Americans, followed by fans from Britain (67,654), Germany (32,269), Australia (29,657) and Canada (16,001), though the Canadian team did not qualify for the tournament. 925,000 of the 2.2 million tickets sold were bought by South African residents.

2010 World Cup: Fifth & final ticket sales phase to begin on the 15 April 2010
The fifth and final ticket sales phase of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa will start on Thursday, 15 April 2010. A total of 500,000 tickets for 63 matches (including all Host Cities and all knock-out matches except the final) will be made available. About 2.2 Million tickets have been sold so far; 240,000 tickets (85% of which went to South African residents) were sold in the fourth sales phase, which ended on the 07 April 2010.

- 11 ticketing centres across the nine host cities. The centres are open seven days a week from 09:00am until 18:00 local time;
- Approx. 600 FNB branches in South Africa, open five days a week from 09:00am on 15 April 2010; the process is new: you can order tickets, make payment and get ticket confirmation immediately; the actual tickets need to be collected at the FIFA ticketing centres or Shoprite/Checkers sales points;

2010 World Cup - Ticket sales update
Between the 9 Feb 2010 and 16 Feb 2010 a total of 117 589 tickets (110 583 individual match tickets & 10 076 team specific series tickets) have been sold to 119 countries. 84% of it (99 042 tickets) have been sold to South African residents. About 11500 ticket applications are still being processed. More than 400 000 tickets were made available for the fourth ticketing sales phase.

2010 World Cup - Ticket sales updates...
- after three out of five ticket sales phases, two-thirds of the available tickets have been sold (around two million tickets)
- 1,206,865 ticket applications were received from 192 countries in the 3rd sales phase
- 79% of the total applications received (958,381) in the 3rd phase were made by South Africans
- ticket applications from the US in the 3rd ticket sales phase: 50,217 tickets
- from the UK 41,529 tickets
- from Australia 15,523 tickets
- from Germany 14,647 tickets
- from Brazil 10,767 tickets
- South Africa's neighbors are showing some interest in the 2010 World Cup now as well. Football fans from Botswana applied for 2,519 tickets, followed by Mozambique (1,795) and Namibia (1,191)
- Six matches are currently oversubscribed (in all categories), among them the semi-finals and the final. In total, 55 matches are oversubscribed in at least one category.
