The national airlines of South Africa and Portugal, South African Airways (SAA) and TAP Portugal, have introduced a new codeshare service for flights between Portugal and South African via London-Heathrow.
South African Airways customers can now fly on daily TAP services to Lisbon and from there to other Portuguese cities in TAP's domestic network, such as Porto, Faro and Funchal on Madeira. In return TAP is putting its code on SAA flights to to five destinations in South Africa, namely Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth.
Both airlines are offering reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, including lounge access, and customers will also enjoy one-ticket itineraries and through baggage check.
