Airlink to launch direct flights between Cape Town <> Victoria Falls!
South African carrier Airlink will launch direct flights between Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town and Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) in Victoria Falls on 02 July 2017. The airline will operate a daily service, except on Saturdays.
Survey: King Shaka International Airport in Durban named second Best Airport in Africa!
Airports Council International (ACI), the only global trade representative of the world's airport authorities, has announced the winners of the prestigious 2016 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) on Mauritius was named Best Airport in Africa 2016 (over 2 million passengers per year), followed by King Shaka International Airport (DUR) in Durban and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town. Bram Fischer International Airport (BFN) in Bloemfontein scooped the award for Best Airport in Africa 2016 (under 2 million passengers per year) and for Best Improvement in Africa 2016. Congratulations!

Over 320 airports across 80 countries participate in the survey, which is based on measuring passengers' satisfaction taken while they are at the airport. Some 600,000 passengers per year are interviewed prior to boarding their flight and asked to rate their satisfaction with the airport's services.

Kruger National Park: Serious damage on the H1/2 between Tshokwane and Skukuza!
Due to flood water coming down from a small dam which burst on Saturday night (04 March 2017), the road towards Tshokwane Picnic Site from Skukuza Rest Camp in Kruger National Park, approximately 5 km after the Sabie River high water bridge, is seriously damaged. The only access road between Skukuza Rest Camp and Tshokwane Picnic Site will be via the low water bridge just east of Lower Sabie Rest Camp. The H1/2 5 kilometers after the Sabie River high water bridge will remain closed for at least two weeks whilst a detour is created.

Airlink increases capacity between Cape Town <> Nelspruit!
South African carrier Airlink will add a second flight between Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (IATA: MQP; KMIA) from 02 July 2017, operating every day except Saturdays. Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport is located about 60 km northeast of Nelspruit; the airport mainly serves Kruger National Park. The flight will depart from Cape Town International Airport at 15h00 and arrive in Nelspruit KMIA at 17h15 and depart from Nelspruit KMIA at 17h35 and arrive at Cape Town International Airport at 20h00.
Airlink now operates up to 13 flights a day to this region, providing access from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town with direct regional flights departing to Livingstone and Vilanculos.

South Africa <> Botswana: Four border posts currently closed due to flooding!
Travellers planning to travel from South Africa to Botswana via the Zanzibar Border Post (R561), the Platjan Border Post or the Pontdrift Border Post (R521) are advised that these three border crossings in Limpopo are currently closed due to over-flooding. Travellers are advised to use the Grobler's Bridge Border Post (N11) / Martin's Drift Border Post (B140) instead. The border post is open daily from 06:00 - 22:00.
The Zanzibar Border Post is already closed since 16 Januar 2017, while the Platjan Border Post is closed since 24 February 2017. Water levles at Pontdrift Border Post have dropped, but travellers are still unable to cross the border.
On the Botswana side, the Bray Border Post (South Africa: R375) is currently closed to due flooding. Travellers are advised to use the Makopong Border Post (A20; South Africa: R375) instead.

Air Namibia & Ethiopian Airlines signed codeshare agreement!
Namibia's flag carrier, Air Namibia, and the flag carrier of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Airlines, have signed a codeshare agreement. The new codeshare agreement will allow Ethiopian Airlines and Air Namibia to place their codes on each other's flights. Ethiopian Airlines will place its "ET"-code on Air Namibia's flights between Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek and Gaborone, Luanda, Victoria Falls and Cape Town, while Air Namibia will place it's "SW"-code on Ethiopian Airlines' flights between Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) in Addis Ababa and Windhoek, Beijing, Lagos, Los Angeles and São Paulo.

Mapungubwe National Park: Roads inside the Park closed due to heavy rains!
update (06 March 2017): The road to the "Confluence" as well as the "Tree Top Walk" in the Mapungubwe National Park has been opened following closure due to rain last week.
Due to heavy rains over the last weekend (25/26 Feb 2017), Mapungubwe National Park is currently experiencing high water levels in some areas. As a result, the road to the "Tree Top Walk" and the "Confluence" has been temporarily closed to the public. The rest of Mapungubwe National Park is fully operational.
Mapungubwe National Park is located in South Africa's Limpopo Province and forms part of the Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conservation Area. It was established in 1995 and covers an area of over 28 000 hectares. Mapungubwe National Park is renowned for its scenic landscape and is home to ost of the large African game species, including elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetah, wild dogs, giraffe, blue wildebeests, kudu, zebra, impala, baboons etc..
"The Confluence": confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo rivers where South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique countries meet.
"Tree Top Walk": a raised canopy walk in a riverine forest that takes you to a hide over looking the Limpopo River.
