Cape Town: Tafelberg Road will be upgraded over the Winter 2012 period
The Tafelberg Road in Cape Town, which is linking the Table Mountain Cableway lower station with the city, will be upgraded over the Winter 2012 period.
The Tafelberg Road will be open at all times, but some disruptions may occur. The aim of the upgrade is to improve visitor safety. Included in this upgrade is the building of a pedestrian boardwalk and a new traffic circle.

Malawi's Swift Air halted operations
Privately owned Malawi-based airline Swift Air's operations have been halted and the company's property has been impounded. According to an article on the news website www.malawitoday.com, the airline owes Airport Development Limited (ADL), Air Malawi and independent travel agents millions of kwacha.
Swift Air was servicing Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Karonga and Blantyre and Johannesburg on board of one Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia and a semi-leased McDonnell Douglas DC-9.

Video: The Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn, South Africa
One of the top tourist destinations in South Africa's Western Cape are the Cango Caves, located about 30km from Oudtshoorn. The cave system at the foothills of the Swartberg range is the only show cave in Africa offering its visitors spectacular halls and grand limestone formations. The caves are open to visitors, who may proceed into the cave only in groups supervised by a guide. Tours are conducted at regular intervals on most days. South Africa: Low-cost carrier Mango adjusts Bloemfontein schedule
South African budget airline and subsidiary of South African Airways, Mango, is adjusting its services to Bloemfontein, the capital of the South African province Free State. The airline will cancel its three weekly flights between Johannesburg and Bloemfontein, effective from 16 July 2012, while it will increase the number of flights between Cape Town and Bloemfontein from currently five to six flights per week.

Lufthansa: Cape Town flights to depart from Munich
Due to the recently introduced night flight ban in Frankfurt, Germany's flag carrier, Lufthansa, moved its seasonal connection to South Africa from Frankfurt to Munich. From 28 October 2012, Lufthansa passengers will therefore for the first time be able to reach the South African coastal city of Cape Town nonstop from Munich.
Lufthansa will be operating five flights per week with an Airbus A340-300 between the two destinations. The 221-seat aircraft will be configured with eight seats in first class, 48 in business class and 165 economy-class seats.
Passengers who are already booked on a Frankfurt <> Cape Town flight will be rebooked at no charge and informed accordingly in the next few days. The departure times from Munich will change only slightly compared to those from Frankfurt.
Lufthansa will operate its flights to Cape Town on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturday and Sundays, departing Munich at 22:00, arriving in South Africa at 10:35.
The return service will depart Cape Town at 19:00, arriving in Munich at 05:35 the following day.

New low-cost African airline FastJet.com to launch flights in October 2012
update (09 Aug 2012): According to Wolfganghthome's Blog, "representatives of one section of shareholders [of Fly540] apparently put the brakes on any future developments vis a vis the planned rebranding, until questions on the present legal cases and the implications for the company have been resolved to their satisfaction."
Africa's new low-cost carrier FastJet.com, operating under a brand licence agreement with EasyGroup Holdings and Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of leading low-cost airline easyJet, will commence flights in October 2012. The airline has chosen the Airbus A319 as its launch aircraft and is expecting to carry 250.000 per year with each 156-seater aircraft. Fastjet will operate from Kenya and Tanzania in East Africa, Angola in Southern Africa and Ghana in West Africa.
