Malawi's Swift Air halted operations

Privately owned Malawi-based airline Swift Air's operations have been halted and the company's property has been impounded. According to an article on the news website www.malawitoday.com, the airline owes Airport Development Limited (ADL), Air Malawi and independent travel agents millions of kwacha.
Swift Air was servicing Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Karonga and Blantyre and Johannesburg on board of one Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia and a semi-leased McDonnell Douglas DC-9.

Malawi's Swift Air now flying to Johannesburg

Privately owned Malawi-based airline Swift Air is as of 21 Feb 2012 offering flights on the Lilongwe - Blantyre - Johannesburg route. The airline is operating flights (Boeing 737) five times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The return airfare from Johannesburg to Lilongwe are currently ranging from R941-R4 940 inclusive of taxes.
Swift Air is a trading division of African Flying Boats which is a Malawian company holding scheduled and charter licenses. The airline links Johannesburg, Blantyre and Lilongwe with seasonal routes from Lilongwe to Karonga via Mzuzu.
