South Africa: National Parks still not open for overnight stays! [update]

update (01 August 2020): South African National Parks (SANParks) announced that it will make further announcements regarding the opening dates of accommodation in individual National Parks in due course. On 30 July 2020, South Africa's Minister of Tourism, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, announced that accommodation facilities will get the permission to open for leisure purposes.

South African National Parks (SANParks) has reminded travellers that its National Parks in South Africa remain closed for overnight accommodation as per alert level three lockdown regulations on leisure and interprovincial travel. All overnight bookings for July 2020 have therefore been suspended; the public will be advised in due course when bookings open. SANParks advises those with overnight bookings to delay their travel and not cancel. The organization will announce the dates for the reopening of accommodation bookings in due course.

Day self-drives in
South Africa's National Parks continue to be permissible for residents of the various provinces that the respective National Parks are located in.
