update (31 July 2020): Air Botswana just announced that due to the lockdown in effect in Greater Gaborone, its scheduled domestic operations will be suspended for the duration of the lockdown.
The state-owned national flag carrier of Botswana, Air Botswana, is set to resume operations. According to a press release, the airline is planning to re-introduce scheduled domestic flights in Botswana on 17 July 2020. The resumption of services is subject to health and safety protocols and the new ways of working. Air Botswana will gradually increase frequency of operations on the basis of demand and is planning to reinstate regional operations as soon as current travel restrictions are lifted. The airline temporarily suspended operations on 27 March 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
"As we gradually reintroduce operations, we will continually explore other possible recovery strategies that address the commercial viability and business sustainability of the national airline, without compromising the health and safety of both staff and customers." Air Botswana's General Manager, Ms. Agnes T. Khunwana
