Kruger National Park unveils activity vehicles for people with mobility challenge
The management of the Kruger National Park has introduced four 14-seater vehicles equipped with lifts for wheelchairs, which will be used to transport tourists with mobility challenges on game viewing activities. Lucy Nhlapo, the South African National Parks (SANParks) General Manager: Marula Region, officially unveiled the vehicles in the Skukuza Rest Camp on 04 December 2018 and said that it is part of the Kruger National Park's mission to ensure that people with mobility issues can also enjoy a wildlife experience.
Some of the places of interest which provide universal access in Kruger National Park are:
- The Rhino Museum at Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp
- The Indigenous Nursery in Skukuza Rest Camp – which provides scent stimulation and sounds that enable visitors to enjoy nature through multiple senses
- The accessible trail at Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp
- The Elephant Interpretive Centre at Letaba Rest Camp
