South Africa: No more boarding calls at six regional airports!

Airports Company South Africa (Acsa), the state-owned airport management company that operates South Africa's nine major airports, has announced that its six regional airports are set to stop all passenger boarding calls in domestic departures check-in areas and boarding gates areas from 01 July 2018. The following airports will switch their public address microphones off:

• Port Elizabeth International Airport (PLZ), Port Elizabeth
• Bram Fischer International Airport (BFN), Bloemfontein
• East London Airport (ELS), East London
• George Airport (GRJ), George
• Upington International Airport (UTN), Upington
• Kimberley Airport (KIM), Kimberley
  

Passengers are advised to check their boarding passes and the flight information display boards for boarding times. The only instances where centralised terminal announcements will be made will be for irregular operations such as gate changes, flight time changes, security matters, system failures and customer service anomalies such as lost minors
