Namibia: Outjo renames five major streets!

The major of Outjo, a city in Namibia's Kunene Region known as the gateway to Etosha National Park, has announced the renaming of five streets in the city during the 120th anniversary of Outjo's existence on 22 June 2018. The five feeder streets to be renamed after key individuals who have contributed to the Namibia's independence and development of Outjo include Buitekant Street, Lang Street, Hospital Street, Zebra Street and Koedoe Street. The new street names are the following:
  • Buitekant Street > Angelika Muharukua Street
  • Lang Street > Nangolo Mbumba Street
  • Hospital Street > Ernst Fanuel Amporo Street
  • Zebra Street > Sagarias Kalux Karunga Street
  • Koedoe Street >  Dr Japie van Zyl Street
The late Salmon Salath //Hoeseb, a well-known journalist/radio presenter who worked for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), is also recognised with a new street in Outjo named after him.
