The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has announced that a total of 23 rhinos out of just above 700 rhinos in Zimbabwe have been poached this year so far. Compared to the 2010, lost 7 rhinos less than in 2010. 37 poachers and illegal dealers in rhino horns were managed to arrest in 2011.
According to Caroline Washaya, ZimParks public relations manager, a total of 100 rhinos were immobilised for ear notching and horn implanting to facilitate individual identification and monitoring in the field.
