Singapore Airlines increases flights to Johannesburg, South Africa!

The flag carrier of Singapore, Singapore Airlines, is planning to increase its flight capacity between Changi Airport (SIN) in Singapore and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa, during the 2025 Northern Summer season. Starting from 11 December 2024 to 10 January 2025 and again from 02 April 2025 to 24 October 2025, the airline will add three weekly flights to Johannesburg. This adjustment will raise the total to ten weekly flights during these periods, from the current daily flights. The flights will be operated by an Airbus A350-900.

New Covid-19 variant: Singapore and Malaysia are restricting arrivals from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe!

Following the detection of a new Covid-19 variant, B.1.1.529, in South Africa, Singapore will restrict entry to travellers with recent travel history to South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Eswatini. Effective 23:59 on 27 November 2021, people who have been in one or more of these seven countries in the last 14 days will not be allowed to enter or transit through the country. Singapore citizens and permanent residents returning from these countries will have to serve a 10-day stay-home notice at a dedicated facility.
Malaysia has also installed a travel ban due to the detection of the new Covid-19 variant. The travel ban takes effect on 27 November 2021. Malaysian citizens who have made plans to travel to South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Eswatini will not be allowed to proceed with their travels. Foreigners, who have been to one or more of these seven countries in the past 14 days, will not be allowed to enter Malaysia. Malaysians and permanent residents returning home after visiting South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Eswatini are allowed to enter Malaysia but must undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine. Singapore Airlines to resume flights to South Africa! [update]

update (12 October 2020): Singapore Airlines will increase its service between Singapore and Johannesburg to three weekly flights in November 2020 and December 2020. The airline is planning to progressively increase services further on the Johannesburg route and re-extend its flights to Cape Town, as travel demand picks up. 

The flag carrier airline of Singapore, Singapore Airlines, has announced the resumption of flights to South Africa. Effective 14 October 2020, the airline will operate a weekly flight between Changi Airport (SIN) in Singapore and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. As travel demand picks up, Singapore Airlines will progressively increase flights to Johannesburg and extend the service to Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town.
The first flight will take off from Singapore at 01:30 on 14 October 2020, arriving in Johannesburg at 06:10 on the same day. The return flight will depart from Johannesburg at 13:45 on 15 October 2020, arriving back in Singapore the next day at 06:10 on 16 October 2020.

Singapore Airlines to increase flights between Singapore <> Johannesburg!

The flag carrier airline of Singapore, Singapore Airlines, is set to introduce additional flights to its Singapore <> Johannesburg service. Effective 31 March 2019 (until 25 October 2019), the airline will operate ten weekly flights instead of the current seven weekly flights between Changi Airport (SIN) in Singapore and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. The airline operates an Airbus A350-900 aircraft between the two destinations.

Singapore Airlines to temporarily introduce additional weekly flights between Singapore <> Johannesburg!

The flag carrier airline of Singapore, Singapore Airlines, is set to temporarily introduce additional flights between Changi Airport (SIN) in Singapore and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg during the Northern summer peak season. The airline will operate at total of 10 scheduled weekly flights instead of the current 7 weekly flights from 01 July to 31 August 2018.

Singapore Airlines to launch daily services to Cape Town!

The flag carrier of Singapore, Singapore Airlines, will be increasing flight frequency to Cape Town to meet growing travel demand. Effective 26 March 2018, the airline will operate daily flights instead of four weekly flights between Shangi Airport (SIN) in Singapore and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town via OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. The additional flights will complement Singapore Airline's current daily service to Johannesburg. Singapore Airlines will operate flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg using its Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The aircraft seats 253 customers in three classes, with 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy Class and 187 in Economy Class.
The new flights are subject to regulatory approvals.

Ethiopian Airlines code shares with Singapore Airlines

Ethiopean Airlines, flag carrier of Ethiopia, Singapore Airlines, the national airline of Singapore will start code sharing effective 01 November 2011.
According to the code share agreement, Ethiopian will code share on Singapore Airlines operating flights between Singapore and Dubai and Singapore Airlines will code share on Ethiopian operating flights between Addis Ababa and Dubai effective November 01, 2011. Ethiopian currently serves Dubai 20 times a week. Under this agreement, the two airlines will jointly provide daily flight services between Addis Ababa and Singapore via Dubai and vice versa.

Singapore Airline ups Cape Town flights

Singapore Airlines is increasing frequency to various destiantions, including Cape Town, during the Northern Winter operating season (30 October 2011-24 March 2012) as a result of continued growth in travel demand.
Flights to Cape Town, via Johannesburg, will increase to four per week from three. The new flight on Tuesdays is in addition to the Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights from Cape Town to Singapore via Johannesburg. The airline’s services between Johannesburg and Singapore remain unchanged at seven times weekly.
The Tuesday flight offers customers from Cape Town and surrounding areas more flight choices to Singapore, south-east Asia, Australia, New Zealand as well as countries in north Asia.
Singapore Airlines is the flag carrier of Singapore. The airlines ranks amongst the top 15 carriers worldwide in terms of revenue passenger kilometres, and 10th in the world for international passengers carried. Singapore Airlines is the world's second largest airline by market capitalisation with a worth of 14 billion US dollars.
