South African low-cost airline Kulula[.com] has announced that it will restart its operations at Lanseria International Airport (HLA) from 01 April 2021. The airline will fly between Lanseria and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town, and Lanseria and King Shaka International Airport (DUR) in Durban. Similar to the re-introduction of its other routes, Kulula[.com] will commence with a limited schedule, adding additional frequencies over the next couple of months. Lanseria International Airport (HLA) is situated north of Randburg and Sandton to the north west of Johannesburg.

South Africa's most visited tourist attractions in 2017!
According to South Africa Tourism's 2017 Annual Tourism Report, the top five of South Africa's Top 20 most-visited attractions or landmarks are located in and around Cape Town. The V&A Waterfront was the country's most-visited attraction or landmark with 1 162 000 tourists in 2017, followed by Cape Town's Central City with 1 080 000 tourists, Cape Point on the Cape Peninsula with 943 000 tourists, Table Mountain Cableway with 799 000 tourists and the suburb of Camp's Bay with 779 000 tourists.

Johannesburg: Free shuttle to/from Liliesleaf & the Bryanston Organic & Natural Market!
Great news for travellers in Johannesburg - Sandton to be precise - planning to visit Liliesleaf and/or the famous Bryanston Organic & Natural Market. A free shuttle bus service between selected hotels in Sandton, the museum and Johannesburg's oldest outdoor market has recently been introduced. The bus leaves from Sandton at 09:00, 10:00 and 13:00 every Thursday and Sunday and returns from the Bryanston Organic & Natural Market at 12:15 and 15:00.

- about 100m of West Street will become a dedicated pedestrian zone for EcoMobility
- private cars will only be permitted to enter West Street via Rivonia Road.
- cars will be prohibited from entering Maude Street (between West and Fifth) and Alice Lane from West Street.
- motorists will have to drive down to Rivonia Road and enter via Fifth Street.
Rivonia, Fifth and Fredman will form a transport loop surrounding the Eco-Mobility precinct. - within this loop, one lane will be designated for public transport only and the other will be available to private cars.
- officers of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) will be located at entry points onto Alice Lane, Maude Street (both ends), corner Rivonia and West, corner West and Maude, corner Maude and Gwen and corner West and Fredman
- JMPD officers will ask commuters if they are based on the road they are trying to enter. If they are not, they will be asked to turn around, re-join the transport loop and reach their destination via the appropriate entry points.
- several park-and-ride facilities will also be introduced to facilitate travellers commuting to Sandton from other parts of Johannesburg, including Brightwater Commons, Montecasino, Waterfall, Nicolway, Randburg Square and Morningside Glen.

Gauteng: Gautrain to increase fares on 01 June 2012
Gautrain announced earlier this month that it will be increasing its fares in line with current inflation as from 01 June 2012. Commuter train fares will be increased by just over 6% on average, while the Airport service and Parking fees will get increased slightly more. Bus fares will remain unchanged.
Airport single tickets will go up by 8%, with the trip from Sandton costing R115 instead of R105, and from Hatfield, Pretoria, R135 instead of R125. Parking fees are currently for instance R10.00 (one day) and will be increased to R12.00 (1hrs - 24hrs); 15min - 1hrs will cost R10.00 from 01 June 2012.
The Gautrain system provides its customers with a modern train service between OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) and the Sandton CBD ("Airport Service") and between Johannesburg Park Station, located between the city's CBD and Braamfontein, and Tshwane’s Hatfield Station ("Commuter Service") in Hatfield, Pretoria.

Gautrain 101 - all about the train, the tickets, the fares and more!
The Gautrain is an 80km mass rapid transit railway system in South Africa's province Gauteng which links Johannesburg, Pretoria, and OR Tambo International Airport. To get to know the Gautrain and to familiarise its users with the system, Gautrain produced some "101" videos. The service is still new to the market and therefore probably to new for most guide books, so if your flying into OR Tambo and planning to use the Gautrain, the videos may be quite informative.

Johannesburg: Gautrain fares announced

Commuters using the Gautrain from OR Tambo International Airport to Johannesburg, Sandton and Pretoria can expect to pay between R105 and R125 for a single trip as from July this year.
The Gautrain Management Agency on Wednesday announced the fare structure for all the routes the rapid train will be taking once it's fully operational at the beginning of July.
A person who buys a monthly ticket from the Hatfield Station in Pretoria to the Johannesburg city centre will pay R39 per trip, as opposed to the R49 payable for the once-off trip. For weekly tickets the price increases to R43 per trip.
The fare for a trip from Sandton to OR Tambo Airport increases from the current R100 to R105 as from 1 June. It will cost R115 to get to the airport from the Johannesburg city centre, while those travelling from Pretoria to the airport will pay R125.
The discount offers are applicable to 44 trips monthly and 10 trips weekly.
Gautrain is the first rapid rail system to be introduced in South Africa to alleviate traffic congestion on the roads and encourage more use of public transport.
Officials were adamant that the fee structure was based on the "principle of affordability" and were "highly competitive" as compared to other modes of public transport.
They also dismissed fears that the train will only be accessible to the elite, while the poor will continue to be restricted to other modes of transport.
"They are sufficiently price-attractive to create a substantial shift from private car use to public transport in the form of Gautrain," said Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi.
The Gautrain fees, he said, compared favourably to the cost of a single trip between Pretoria to Johannesburg city centre which cost about R61 for a 1600 engine vehicle. The costs were apparently only for fuel and tires and excluded depreciation, maintenance and parking expenses.
Once they purchase their monthly saver pass, Gautrain commuters will be required to use the ticket within seven days of purchase or risk forfeiting all the trips.
Vadi said it was expected that the majority of people will buy monthly and weekly tickets, which will lead to them getting up to 20 percent discount. The Gautrain feeder and distribution buses will cost R6 per trip for a person using the train, while ordinary users will pay R20 per trip.
The first phase of Gautrain was opened in June, days before the start of the FIFA soccer World Cup in South Africa. This included the sections between the airport and Sandton. Around 105 000 jobs are said to have been created since the inception of construction.

From the airport, take the R24 Johannesburg highway and turn at NI2/N3 North highway turn off at Marlboro Road. At the traffic light, turn left and continue to the "Shell" petrol/gas station on your left. Turn right into South Road and continue to the T-Junction. Turn left into Rivonia Road and pass the Southern Sun Grayston Hotel on your left. The Hilton Sandton hotel is on your left.
