French Football team will be based in Knysna during the 2010 World Cup

The French national football team will be based at Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa in Knysna during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The resort has its own private multi-sports field which the team can utilise for practices. The complex is set on a stunning 1,000 ha estate and is known for its secluded beach, sweeping fynbos landscapes and ancient indigenous forests.

How to get there:
Directions from Cape Town (±500 kms /311 miles) Take the N2 from Cape Town to Knysna passing Somerset West, Caledon, Swellendam, Albertinia, Mossel Bay and George.
  • Continue along the main road through Knysna, past the Provincial Hospital on the left.
  • After the Caltex Petrol Station on the right, turn right into George Rex Drive (road to Knysna Heads).
  • Immediately after Knysna Golf Club, turn left into Wilson Street and right at the circle into Duthie Drive.
  • Follow Duthie Drive up the hill to Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa (this is well sign-posted)
Directions from Port Elizabeth (±260 kms /162 miles) Take the N2 from Port Elizabeth to Knysna, passing Humansdorp, Storms River and Plettenberg Bay.
  • As you drive into Knysna, turn left into George Rex Drive (road to Knysna Heads).
  • Immediately after Knysna Golf Club, turn left into Wilson Street and right at the circle into Duthie Drive.
  • Follow Duthie Drive up the hill to Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa (this is well sign-posted) [src.: pezularesorthotel.com]

Japan's headquarter during the 2010 World Cup™ in South Africa

Japan's national team will be based at the Fancourt Hotel & Country Club Estate in George during the 2010 World Cup™. With the majestic Outeniqua Mountains as its backdrop, Fancourt has 3 specifically designed golf courses and the only Taylor Made Performance Lab in the whole of Africa.
Japan's practice pitch is going to be the Outeniqua Park stadium just about 5km east of the hotel.


According to some news reports the Fancourt Hotel was chosen by the Japanese National Football Association because Japan's Ai Miyazato and Rui Kitada won the inaugural women's World Cup of Golf in 2005 hosted by Fancourt.

The base of the Dutch national team will be the luxurious Hilton Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg's poshest & richest suburb. The team will train at at Wits University, 15km south of the hotel.


How to get there?
From the airport, take the R24 Johannesburg highway and turn at NI2/N3 North highway turn off at Marlboro Road. At the traffic light, turn left and continue to the "Shell" petrol/gas station on your left. Turn right into South Road and continue to the T-Junction. Turn left into Rivonia Road and pass the Southern Sun Grayston Hotel on your left. The Hilton Sandton hotel is on your left.

Germany's base during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa

Germany's base during the 2010 World Cup is the Vermore Hotel in South Africa's Gauteng province. The complex will only be finished next month, but the German Football Association DFB have already booked an entire wing for the tournament. Vermore Hotel, which has 90 rooms, is in Centurion, a town with a population of 280,000 located between Pretoria and Johannesburg, not far from five of the nine World Cup venues - Johannesburg, Pretoria, Rustenburg, Nelspruit & Polokwane.
