Namibia: FlyNamibia adjusts Windhoek <> Katima Mulilo schedule!

Namibian domestic and regional carrier FlyNamibia has announced that it will adjust the schedule of its service between Eros Windhoek (ERS) in Windhoek and Katima Mulilo Airport (MPA) in Katima Mulilo, the capital of the Zambezi Region in Namibia. The departure time in Windhoek will be changed from 11:00 to 14:40 and the departure time in Katima Mulilo from 13:10 to 17:10. The new schedule becomes effective on 01 March 2024. FlyNamibia operates three weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between the two destinations.

Namibia/Zambia: The Katima Mulilo border post to operate on a 24-hour basis! [update]

update (21 August 2023): According to a public notice issued by the Namibian Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security on 18 August 2023, the Katima Mulilo Border Post between Namibia and Zambia will be operating 24 hours from 22 August 2023.

The Katima Mulilo border post between Namibia and Zambia will soon operate 24 hours a day. The Namibian Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Albert Kawana, announced on 23 June 2023, that the new operating hours will become effective on 31 July 2023. According to the Minister, this is one of the steps the (Namibian) government is taking to ensure smooth trade and services with its neighbouring countries. The Katima Mulilo border post is located on the Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi Development Road, the fastest-growing economic corridor in Namibia.

Namibia: FlyWestair has launched flights between Windhoek <> Katima Mulilo!

Namibian privately-owned passenger airline FlyWestair has launched a new service to Namibia's Zambezi Region. The airline is now offering three weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between Eros Airport (ERS) in Windhoek and Katima Mulilo Airport (MPA) in Katima Mulilo. Flights depart Windhoek at 11:00 and arrive in Katima Mulilo at 12:25 while the return flights depart Katima Mulilo at 13:05 and arrive in Windhoek at 14:30.

Namibia/Botswana: The Ngoma/Kasane Border Post has been re-opened to the public!

Namibia's Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safery and Security (MHAISS) has announced that the Ngoma/Kasane Border Post between Botswana and Namibia is now open for public use. The border post was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The opeining times of the border post are daily from 07:30 to 16:30. The Ngoma/Kasane Border Post is located about 50 km west of Kasane in Botswana and about 70 km south-east of Katima Mulilo in Namibia.

Namibia: FlyWestair to introduce new domestic routes!

Namibian privately-owned passenger airline FlyWestair is planning to introduce scheduled operations between Eros Airport (ERS) in Windhoek and Katima Mulilo Airport (MPA) in Katima Mulilo, Rundu Airport (NDU) in Rundu, Lüderitz Airport (LUD) in Lüderitz and Oranjemund Airport (OMD) in Oranjemund. The airline already has the ability to operate these routes, however, the launch date for these new routes is currently pending due to procedural delays caused by the Transportation Commission of Namibia being unable to call for a hearing to approve the routes. FlyWestair is in contact with the Ministry of Transport on the matter and trust it will be resolved soon. We'll keep you posted!

Namibia: Air Namibia has restarted operations between Windhoek <> Katima Mulilo!

Namibia's cash-strapped national airline, Air Namibia, has restarted scheduled services between Eros Airport (ERS) in Windhoek and Katima Mulilo Airport (MPA) in Katima Mulilo, the capital of the Zambezi Region in the extreme north-east of Namibia. From today (01 February 2021), the airline operates four weekly return flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays to Katima Mulilo.

Air Namibia postpones additional domestic flights & terminates regional route!

According to a press release by Air Namibia, the airline has postponed the launch of additional frequencies on some of its domestic and regional routes, which were due to start on 31 March 2019. The airline names the need to ensure operational readiness from the perspective of aircraft availability as one of the main reasons for the postponement. Air Namibia also announced the termination of one domestic route and one regional route. The following flights are affected:

• Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek – Ondangwa Airport (OND), Ondangwa – Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek:
• The number of flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays will remain on two per day.
• Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek – Katima Mulilo Airport (MPA), Katima Mulilo – Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek:
• The number of flights will remain on four per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays).
• Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek – Rundu Airport (NDU), Rundu – Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek:
• The number of flights will remain on three per week (Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays)
• Ondangwa Airport (OND), Ondangwa – Walvis Bay International Airport (WVB), Walvis Bay – Ondangwa Airport (OND), Ondangwa:
• Effective 31 March 2019, the direct service will be terminated.
• Walvis Bay International Airport (WVB), Walvis Bay - OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg:

Air Namibia to increase domestic and regional flights!

Namibia's flag carrier, Air Namibia, has announced schedule changes that will come in effect on 30 March 2019. The airline will increase capacity on routes where they often have high levels of spillage, and also introducing flights on days of week most suited to their clients requirements. The following four domestic routes and two regional routes are affected by Air Namibia's schedule changes:
 

• Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek – Ondangwa Airport (OND), Ondangwa – Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek:
• flight frequencies will increase to 20 per week, from previously 17 flights per week. Additional frequencies will be introduced on Fridays, Sundays and Wednesdays. This will result in a total of 3 flights on each of these 3 days of the week.
• Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek – Katima Mulilo Airport (MPA), Katima Mulilo – Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek:
• flight frequencies will be increased from the current 4 to 5 per week, with the new additional rotation scheduled for Thursdays.
• Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek – Rundu Airport (NDU), Rundu – Windhoek Eros Airport (ERS), Windhoek:
• flight frequencies will be increased from the current 3 to 4 per week, with the new additional rotation scheduled for Mondays.
• Ondangwa Airport (OND), Ondangwa – Walvis Bay International Airport (WVB), Walvis Bay – Ondangwa Airport (OND), Ondangwa:
• flight frequencies will remain on 3 flights per week, currently operated on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Days of operation will change to Fridays, Sundays and Wednesdays.
• Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), Windhoek – Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN), Lusaka – Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), Windhoek: 
• flights will change days of operation, with frequency increase to 4 per week, previously 3 flights per week. New days of operation will be Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
• Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), Windhoek – Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (HRE), Harare – Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH),Windhoek:
• flights will change days of operation, with frequency increase to 4 per week, previously 3 flights per week. New days of operation will be Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Zambia to computerise the border posts at Victoria Falls, Katima Mulilo & Kazungula

The Department of Immigration in Zambia is going to computerise its border posts at Victoria Falls/Livingstone (Zambia/Zimbabwe), Katima Mulilo (Zambia/Namibia) and Kazungula (Zambia/Botswana) by June 2013 to ease the movement of travellers to and from Zambia. According to the public relations officer of the Department of Immigration, Mubanda Chansa, twenty computers, fifteen webcams, fifteen finger print scanners and nine printers were bought so far to equip the three border posts and Zamtel was contracted to connect the borders with the Department's headquarters in Lusaka. Immigration officers at the soon-to-be computerised border controls will also get a special training on how to use the new system.
