Botswana: Seasonal rainfall & temperature outlook for October 2020 to March 2021!
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) has released the seasonal rainfall and temperature outlook for October 2020 to March 2021*. According to the DMS, most of Botswana, with the exception of the southwestern part of the country, can expect to receive normal to above normal rainfall from October 2020 to December 2020. The Kgalagadi District in southwest Botswana is expected to receive normal to below normal rainfall. Temperatures for this period (October 2020 - December 2020) are expected to be normal to above.
During January 2021 to March 2021, the bulk of Botswana will receive normal to above normal rains with the northern parts of the country receiving above normal rainfall. Temperatures will be normal to with a tendency to below over most areas. Generally a moderately wet season is expected in Botswana with the upcoming season being wetter than the previous one.

Botswana: Meteorological winter outlook (May - July 2020)!
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) has released the meteorological winter outlook 2020 for Botswana. According to the DMS, northern Botswana will most likely experience largely normal temperatures with a tendency to below-normal during the period from May to July 2020, while it is expected that southern and eastern Botswana will experience normal to above normal temperatures during this period.
- Temperatures over the northern parts of Botswana (Ngamiland, Chobe and northern parts of the Central Districts) are expected to be largely normal with a tendency to below. Normal maximum and minimum temperatures are 27.4°C and 9°C respectively.
- Temperatures over the eastern parts of Botswana (Northeast and southern parts of the Central Districts) are expected to be normal with a tendency to above. Normal maximum and minimum temperatures are 24°C and 7°C respectively.
- Temperatures over the southern and western parts of Botswana (Kgalagadi, Ghanzi, Southern, Southeast, Kgatleng and Kweneng) are also expected to be normal with a tendency to above. Normal maximum and minimum temperatures are 23.6°C and 5°C respectively.
- Below normal rainfall is expected countrywide (normal rainfall for winter is about 2mm)
- The DMS advices that cold spells will be experienced from time to time during this period.

Botswana: Seasonal rainfall & temperature outlook update (January - March 2020)!
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) has updated the seasonal rainfall and temperature outlook for the month of January, February and March 2020. According to the reviewed forecast, the season will generally be a normal to below rainfall season over the north and east i.e. the eastern parts of Ngamiland, Chobe, North-East and Central districts. The west and southern parts of Botswana i.e. western parts of Ngamiland, Ghanzi, Kgalagadi, Southern, Southeast, Kgatleng and Kweneng districts are expected to receive normal to above rains. Most parts of Botswana are expected to be relatively hot as above normal temperatures are predicted countrywide.

Botswana: Seasonal rainfall & temperature outlook (October 2019 to March 2020)!
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) has released the seasonal rainfall and temperature outlook for Botswana for the period from October 2019 to March 2020. According to the DMS, the north and the western parts of the country are expected to have normal to above normal rainfall from October to December 2019. The eastern parts of Botswana are expected to receive normal to below normal rainfall, while the south-eastern parts will have below normal rainfall. Temperatures are expected to be above normal in the bulk of Botswana. Only the northern parts of the country are expected to experience normal to below normal temperatures.
From January to March 2020 normal to above normal rains are expected countrywide with the north and the southwest being particulary above average. While the northern and central areas of Botswana are expected to have normal to below normal temperatures, temperatures in the west and east will continue to be higher than normal.

Botswana: Seasonal Rainfall and Temperature Outlook Update for the January to April 2019 rainfall season
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) has released the National Seasonal Rainfall and Temperature Outlook Update for Botswana for the January to April 2019 rainfall season. According to the outlook, the month from January to March 2019 will generally be a normal to below rainfall season, while some parts across central Botswana are expected to receive normal to above rains during the month from February to April 2019. Most parts of the country are expected to be relatively hot as above normal temperatures are anticipated.

Botswana: Winter temperature outlook (May - July 2018)!
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) has released the "Botswana Winter Outlook (May to July 2018)". According to the DMS, normal temperatures with a tendency to below-normal are likely to be experienced throughout Botswana between May 2018 and July 2018.

Botswana: Rain season (January - March 2018) outlook!
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (BDMS) has released a statement regarding the seasonal rainfall outlook update for January to March 2018. According to the statement the eastern parts of Botswana (Southern-Central and Northeast District) are expected to receive largely normal rainfall. Normal rainfall is about 180mm for this area. The remaining parts of the country which include Gantsi, Ngamiland, Chobe, Northern-Central, Kgalagadi, Southern, Southeast, Kgatleng and Kweneng are expected to receive normal to above normal rainfall. Normal rainfall during January to March in these parts of Botswana usually ranges from 100mm over Kgalagadi to 320mm over the Chobe District. Overall, a moderately wet season is expected. This is mainly due to the present weak La Niña conditions.

Botswana: Rain season (Oct 2017 - March 2018) outlook!
Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) has released the seasonal rainfall outlook for the period from October 2017 to March 2018. According to the meteorologists, the upcoming rainfall season in Botswana will start off with largely normal rains with a slight likelihood to below normal. As the season progresses, there will be an improvement in rainfall, hence normal to above normal rains expected towards the end the season.

The southeastern parts of Botswana (Southeast, Kgatleng, Kweneng, eastern Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Southern Districts) are expected to receive largely above normal to normal rainfall. The rest of the country will receive normal to below normal rains.

The west and northern parts of Botswana (Ghanzi, Kgalagadi, Ngamiland and Chobe districts) are expected to receive above normal to normal rainfall. The remaining parts (Southern, Southeast, Kgatleng, Kweneng, Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Northeast and Central districts) are expected to receive normal with a likelihood of above normal rains.

Temperature forecast (May - July 2017): Botswana to experience a mild winter!
According to Botswana's Department of Meteorological Services (DMS), the country will experience a relatively mild winter with largely normal with a tendency towards above temperatures for the months of May to July 2017. There is however a likelihood of increased cold spells over southern and western Botswana. Very cold conditions are expected toward the end of the season and extending into the month of August 2017.
Ngamiland, Chobe and the Northern Parts of Central districts:
- May - July: normal maximum temperatures 23.6°C (Southern Botswana) to 27.8°C (Northern Botswana)
- May - July: normal minimum temperatures 5°C (Southern Botswana) to 9°C (Northern Botswana)
