Chapman's Peak Drive: Temporary road closures for alien vegetation clearing in February & March 2022! [update]

update (23 March 2022): The current period for alien vegetation clearing is now over and will only start again later this year in October.

Cape Town's famous Chapman's Peak Drive is closed to all users, motorised and non-motorised traffic including pedestrians/runners, between 10:00 to 16:00 on Wednesdays during February and March 2022 for alien vegetation clearing (02.02,09.02, 16.02, 23.02., 02.03., 09.03.,16.03.,23.03., 30.03. - weather permitting). This is essential to protect the delicate eco-systems and prevent the alien plants from stealing ground water or destroying the natural fynbos. Should one need to travel between Noordhoek and Hout Bay between those times, kindly use Ou Kaapse Weg as an alternative route.
