Covid-19: Zimbabwe has re-opened all land borders! [update]

update (03 March 2022): Zimbabwe's land borders are still closed to non-essential travel. According to Zimbabwean state-owned newspaper "The Chronicle", the Attorney General's (AG) office is crafting a statutory instrument to operationalise the decision of Zimbabwe's Cabinet to open land borders for vaccinated ordinary travellers. The statutory instrument is expected to be gazetted in due course.

The Government of Zimbabwe has re-opened all land borders with immediate effect on 15 February 2022 as the number of Covid-19 cases in the country continue to decline. According to the Zimbabwe's Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa, all persons entering Zimbabwe must have undergone a valid Covid-19 PCR test not more than 48 hours from the time of their departure for Zimbabwe, and be fully vaccinated. Those with a booster shot have an entry advantage.
