update (15 October 2019): South Africa's Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, is expected to make an announcement this week that unabridged birth certificates will no longer be required for overseas tourists travelling to South Africa with children. According to Home Affairs spokesperson Siya Qozo, the decision still has to be communicated with all the stakeholders.
South Africa's Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, told South African investment information website Moneyweb in a radio interview (see below, skip to 08:00 minute) that unabridged birth certificates are no longer a requirement for foreign visitors travelling with kids to South Africa. According to other media reports, an official announcement of the removal of this requirement will happen next week. We'll keep you posted!
