update (15 Nov 2012): Fastjet, Africa's first pan-African low cost airline, has launched ticket sales in Tanzania. Tickets are on sale for flights between Dar Es Salaam and Kilimanjaro, as well as Dar Es Salaam and Mwanza. Air fares are starting from US$20 (Sh1,713) before government taxes.
The new African budget carrier Fastjet (IATA code: FN) will launch operations on 29 Nov 2012. The first routes to be serviced by the airline will be Dar Es Salaam <> Kilimanjaro and Dar Es Salaam <> Mwanza. The airline is also planing to launch flights to Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya, Entebbe in Uganda and Zanzibar in Tanzania.
Fastjet is operating under a brand licence agreement with EasyGroup Holdings and Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of leading low-cost airline easyJet.
