South Africa has been named one of the world’s leading luxury travel destinations, ranking 4th globally in the inaugural Roxstar Luxury Travel Trends Report 2025. The report, based on Roxstar’s elite booking data from 2022 to 2025, highlights destinations most favoured by high-net-worth travellers.
Safari, city, and coast in perfect balance
Roxstar’s data shows that South Africa continues to impress with its mix of urban sophistication, wilderness adventure, and coastal beauty. Cape Town remains the country’s most sought-after luxury hub, complemented by private safaris in world-renowned reserves.
Top properties include Belmond Mount Nelson in Cape Town, One&Only Cape Town,, Singita’s portfolio of luxury lodges across South Africa’s premier wildlife reserves, Londolozi Private Game Reserve, and Cheetah Plains, combining five-star comfort with authentic African experiences.
Experience-driven luxury on the rise
The report notes a shift toward exclusive, experience-based travel. South Africa stands out for curated Winelands tastings, private photographic safaris, and fine-dining favourites such as La Colombe and FYN, both located in Cape Town.
Wellness as a new luxury trend
Roxstar identifies wellness travel as a key growth area. From nature-focused retreats to wellness safaris, South Africa is well-positioned to expand its offering in this booming segment.
