Cricket: South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia to host the Men's Cricket World Cup 2027!

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the host nations for every major ICC men's limited overs event between 2024 and 2031. In October/November 2027, Namibia will host the Men’s Cricket World Cup alongside Zimbabwe and South Africa. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya co-hosted the Cricket World Cup in 2003, the first to be hosted in Africa. It will be the first time that the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region hosts a global cricket tournament and incidentally, this will be the first-time such games will be staged in Namibia.
The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup ("Cricket World Cup") is the international championship of One Day International (ODI) cricket. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), every four years.

• Men's T20 World Cup 2024: USA and West Indies (June)
• Men's Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan (February)
• Men's T20 World Cup 2026: India and Sri Lanka (February)
• Men's Cricket World Cup 2027: South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia (October/November)
• Men's T20 World Cup 2028: Australia and New Zealand (October)
• Men's Champions Trophy 2029: India (October)
• Men's T20 World Cup 2030: England, Scotland and Ireland (June)

The official World Cup mascots since 1966

Since 1966 all FIFA World Cups had an official mascot. Looking back the recent years I can hardly remember any of them. Ok, I do remember in Goleo, but I completely forgot about eg Spheriks, the mascot of the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup. The name doesn't even ring a bell... Nevertheless - here is a list of all official mascots since 1966:

2010 World Cup™ stadiums - Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria / Tshwane

Pretoria's Loftus Versfeld Stadium is one of the oldes stadiums in Southern Africa being used for major sporting events since 1903. The stadium got its first concrete structure, which could accommodate only 2,000 spectators, already in 1923. Located close to the heart of the city the venue is used for both rugby and football matches and is home to one of the country's top rugby teams, the Blue Bulls.

Minimal upgrading was undertaken in order for Loftus Versfeld to qualify as a venue for first and second round matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
btw - Bafana Bafana, South Africa's national football team, achieved its first ever victory over a European side at Loftus Versfeld when they beat Sweden 1-0 in 1999.
