Coronavirus pandemic: Mozambique enters "situation of public calamity" for an indefinite period!

The President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, announced in a televised speech to the nation on 04 September 2020 that from today (07 September 2020) the "state of emergency" in Mozambique is getting replaced by a "situation of public calamity" for an indefinite period as a way to maintain the COVID-19 preventive measures. According to the President, most of the current measures remain the same, but with some relaxations on restrictions. Mozambique's borders are open from today and international flights are allowed again. Beaches are also open and religious services of up to 250 people are permitted. Bars are still closed and the use of masks in public places remains mandatory except during physical activities.
As of 04 September 2020, Mozambique had 4,207 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 26 deaths. A total of 2,370 individuals have recovered from the disease.

Qantas announces new baggage policy

Australia's flag carrier, Qantas, will introduce changes to its international checked baggage policy in May 2012, moving from a weight system to a piece and weight system. Under the new policy, economy passenger weights will remain unchanged at a limit of 23kg for non-frequent flyer bronze customers, while economy passengers will be restricted to travelling with just one bag. Premium Economy passengers will be allowed two items of up to 23kg each, while first and business class passengers will be allowed three pieces up to 32kg each.
The piece and weight baggage system is also used by a number of oneworld™ carriers such as British Airways and American Airlines.
The new international policy will apply to all tickets issued on or after 2 May 2012 for Qantas international flights and oneworld™ partner flights with a "QF" flight number.

Qantas is currently offering flights to 20 domestic destinations and 21 international destinations in 14 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania excluding the destinations served by its subsidiaries. In the entire Qantas group it serves 60 domestic and 27 international destinations.

Ethiopian Airlines received the 5th Boeing 777-200LR

Ethiopia's flag carrier Ethiopian Airlines has recently received its 5th Boing 777-200LR aircraft. "The Sahara" arrived at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on the 22 July 2011, carrying to its full load from Seattle with a stopover in Paris, for the first time.
Ethopian Airlines named the five Boing 777-200LRs after African land marks - the first 777-200LR was named "The Blue Nile", the second "Rift Valley" , the third "Victoria Falls", the fourth "Mount Kilimanjaro" and the fifth "The Sahara".
According to the airline's CEO Mr. Tewolde Gebremariam, with the new aircrafts the airline is now able to cut travel time of their international flights to the US by two to three hours.
