This restaurant in Cape Town is one of "The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022"!

Cape Town restaurant FYN has been named one of "The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022" and "The Best Restaurant in Africa 2022". The restaurant, which has secured the 37th spot in the 2022 list, celebrates Japanese cooking technique while using local fish, poultry and meat from the best farms and fisheries in and around Cape Town. FYN was launched in 2018 by South African chef and restaurateur Peter Tempelhoff, who is supported by French general manager Jennifer Hugé and head chef Ashley Moss. The restaurant is located on the fifth floor of a 19th-century silk factory on 37 Parliament Street in Cape Town. Two other South African restaurants were also awarded: La Colombe in Constantia came in at number 56 in the top 100 and last year's "Best Restaurant in Africa, Wolfgat in Paternoster, at number 90. South Africa: A restaurant in Paternoster earns a spot in World’s 50 Best!

A small restaurant with only 20 diners per sitting located on South Africa's West Coast has just been included in the prestigious list of "The World's 50 Best Restaurants". Wolfgat, which has secured the 50th spot in the 2021 list, is situated in a charming revamped 130 years old fisherman’s cottage in Paternoster in the Western Cape. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience showcasing a selection of indigenous ingredients specific to its coastal location. Wolfgat is owned by chef Kobus van der Merwe, who has been compared to Copenhagen chef René Redzepi for his love of foraging and championing local produce. Kudos Kobus and congratulations to your team!

NB.: Wolfgat is not only the 50th best restaurant in the world, it has also been named "Best Restaurant in Africa"! In September 2021, "The World's 50 Best Restaurants" announced the runners-up list of restaurants in positions 51 to 100. Two South African restaurants made the list: La Colombe in Constantia at 81, and FYN in Cape Town's City Centre at 92. Congratulations!

World Restaurant Awards: A tiny South African beach restaurant has just been crowned world's "Restaurant of the Year"!

The World Restaurant Awards held their inaugural awards ceremony on 18 February 2019 in Paris. Winner of the "Restaurant of the Year" category is Wolfgat, a restaurant in Paternoster in South Africa's Western Cape. Congratulations! According to the judging panel, the menu at Wolfgat is "perfectly balanced between creativity and accessibility" and a "hyper-local". approach to sourcing ingredients. The remote 20-cover restaurant also scooped the award for "Off-Map Destination" – a category that embodies the awards' ambition to reflect the full breadth and depth of the international restaurant scene.
Wolfgat located at 10 Sampson Street in Paternoster. At the first intersection in Paternoster, coming from direction Vredenburg (R45), turn left onto St. Augustine road. Pass the Paternoster Hotel and Paternoster Lodge on your left. At the Rooykliphoek centre on your left, turn right into Sampson street. The restaurant is situated about 100m down the road on your right. Lunch and dinner at Wolfgat is served by appointment only. The restaurant offers a seven course tasting menu at R850 per person
