update (16 August 2024): The pilot phase of Zimbabwe's Online Border Management System (OBMS) is now underway at RG Mugabe International Airport (HRE) in Harare. According to the Zimbabwean Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Kazembe Raymond Kazembe, the OBMS will be implemented at all border posts, with completion expected by the end of the year.We'll keep you posted!
The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), the national brodcaster of Zimbabwe, is reporting that Zimbabwe is set to introduce an Online Border Management System (OBMS). The new system is being rolled out in a phased approach during 2024. The ZBC quotes Chief Immigration Officer Ms Respect Gono saying that the OBMS will be starting this January with major border posts and is envisaged to link the entire country of Zimbabwe by the end of 2024. According to Ms Gono, the OBMS will come with a cocktail of functionalities that will improve our efficiency including e-gates, online visa application, improved security and others.
