Coronavirus pandemic: Zimbabwe has relaxed the national lockdown restrictions!

The Government of Zimbabwe has relaxed the restrictions implemented to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. According to an statement by the country's President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, the formally registered informal market in Zimbabwe, including open markets, is allowed to resume operations. Everyone in the informal sector, who have not formally registered themselves or their enterprises, are directed to do so forthwith. The laid down coronavirus prevention requirements, such as the wearing of masks, washing or sanitisation of hands and social distancing remains mandatory. Gathering for purposes of worship in Zimbabwe must remain at a maximum of fifty and in full compliance with all the coronavirus prevention requirements. Zimbabweans are allowed to travel throughout Zimbabwe when it is absolutely necessary. The moratorium on rent payment, made during the early phases of the lockdown has been lifted. Rent arrears can be settled in instalments spread over a period of six months.
