Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site (Gauteng): The Sterkfontein Caves Road gets an upgrade!

The Sterkfontein Caves Road (D1701) in the precinct of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in Krugersdorp has been closed from the intersection with R540 (Kromdraai Road) as well as at the intersection with P74/1 (R563 – Hekpoort Road) due to the development of sinkholes that urgently need attention. The rehabilitation process started on 09 September 2019 and is expected to be completed around mid-October 2019. Motorists are advised that only residents are allowed access during the period of rehabilitation. We'll keep you posted!
