South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced this morning that access to Kruger National Park’s Punda Maria Gate is currently disrupted due to a community protest linked to service delivery issues. Travellers heading to the park through this entrance may face delays or road closures.
Recommended alternative gates in the area:
- Pafuri Gate (north of Punda Maria, ideal for visitors exploring the Makuleke region)
- Phalaborwa Gate (southwest access, convenient for those coming from Tzaneen or Phalaborwa)
- Parfuri Gate (if approaching from the far north via Musina)
Visitors are encouraged to make use of these alternative entry points until the situation around Punda Maria Gate has been resolved.
We’ll continue to provide updates as soon as SANParks releases new information.
