CapeNature announces Free Access Week 2025 – Explore Western Cape Nature Reserves for free!

CapeNature, the public agency responsible for biodiversity conservation in South Africa's Western Cape, has confirmed the dates for its 11th annual Access Week. From 20 to 26 September 2025, visitors can enjoy free day entry to selected CapeNature reserves across the province.

What visitors need to know:

  • Free access is valid only during standard operating hours at CapeNature reserve gates.
  • No pre-bookings are required, but entry is on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to daily visitor limits.
  • The offer includes general conservation fees, covering activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and other permitted day-use activities.
  • The promotion does not apply to the Whale Trail, landowners, concession holders, or partners.
  • Some areas may be temporarily closed, so visitors are encouraged to check reserve-specific updates before travelling.
