Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport won the 2011 Best Airport Africa Award, with Cape Town International Airport 2nd, and Durban's King Shaka International Airport in 3rd place.
The World Airport Awards™ are based on survey results from 11.38 million questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationality of airline passengers, covering more than 240 airports worldwide.
The survey evaluates traveller experiences across 39 different airport service and product factors - from check-in, arrivals, transfer through to departure at the gate.
Operating since 1999, the World Airport Survey is held in highest esteem for its clarity of process and rigorously applied rules of complete independence.
