update (25 Nov 2011): Air Namibia will cancel its
flights between Johannesburg and Walvis Bay effective 02 Dec 2011
to 24 March 2012 due to operational reasons. All affected passengers have been rebooked via Windhoek.
Namibia's flag carrier Air Namibia will introduce a new service between Johannesburg and Walvis Bay from 14 April 2011. The airline will operate six flights on the route per week with exception of Saturday. According to Air Namibia the additional service reduces passengers' journey time by at least 45 minutes each way, as they will not need to transit in Walvis Bay.
Air Namibia currently has three weekly flights between Cape Town and Walvis Bay using the Boeing 737-500. The Johannesburg <> Walvis Bay route will be serviced by the newly acquired Embraer ERJ 135.
