The rather remote city of Harrismith at the base of the Platberg (Afrikaans for "Flat Mountain") in South Africa's Free State province is not only the centre of one of the five wool producing districts in Southern Africa, but also home to the largest truck stop in the Southern Hemisphere, Highway Junction.

Situated between the N3 and the N5 (South Africa’s busiest routes), the Engen's biggest truck stop Highway Junction has a size of 170 000 m², has a partking capacity for 330 trucks and sleeping facilities for 100 drivers. Officially opened in May 1999, the truck stop was also the first of its kind in South Africa. Traveltrivia at its finest!
