South Africa's most punctual domestic airlines in May 2019!

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has published the on-time performance results of domestic airlines’ flying out of OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town, Durban's King Shaka International Airport (DUR) and Port Elizabeth International Airport (PLZ) in Port Elizabeth in May 2019.
On-Time Performance is measured by comparing the actual off-block time (when aircraft pushes back) against the airline schedule time for a departing flight. The measurement is done in accordance with the IATA (International Airlines Transport Association) universal standard benchmark with considers a 15 minute deviation from the scheduled time as an on-time departure.

Kenya introduces new banknotes!

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has unveiled the new generation banknotes during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Nairobi on 01 June 2019. The new notes have a unique theme and security features and have various images – 50 shillings, Green Energy; 100 shillings, Agriculture; 200 shilling, Social Services; 500 shillings, Tourism; 1,000 shillings, Governance – and are easy to use by the visually impaired. New banknotes are to be brought in Kenya over the coming months with other denominations being phased out gradually. The old Sh1000-note will be withdrawn effective 01 October 2019 when they will cease to be legal tender.

Namibia: The City of Windhoek to rename Bahnhof Street!

The City of Windhoek has approved a proposal to rename Bahnhof Street in Windhoek. The street, which connects with Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue and dissects Independence Avenue and Robert Mugabe Avenue, will be renamed in honour of Professor Mburumba Kerina. Kerina is a Namibian politician, academic, and author as well as one of the co-founders of the South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO). He is credited with giving independent Namibia its name.
