Namibia: daylight saving time ends on 01 April 2012

On 01 April 2012, time in Namibia will change from UTC+2 to UTC+1. The time will change at 02:00am (from 02:00am to 01:00am). Time will not change in the Caprivi strip, as this area is not subject to summer and winter time changes. Daylight saving time will resume again on 02 Sept 2012.
Only Mororcco and Namibia are currently using daylight saving time on the African continent.

Sunrise and sunset times may vary from place to place depending on latitude and longitude.

Cape Town: Company’s Garden extends opening hours

The Company's Garden in Queen Victoria Street in Cape Town will extend its daily hours of operation from 10 Dec 2011 untill 29 Feb 2012. The normal closing time of 19:00 has been extended to 20:30 to allow visitors a chance to enjoy the long summer days.
The restaurant in the Company’s Garden will stay open later from 10 Dec 2011 15 Jan 2012.


Safety in the Company’s Garden is ensured by a 24-hour private security service as well as by CCTV cameras positioned in strategic locations in the area. During 10 Dec 2011 - 29 Feb 2012 city law enforcement officers will also conduct regular patrols until 20:00.

Lufthansa to re-introduce its seasonal Cape Town service ex Frankfurt

Germany's flag carrier Lufthansa will re-introduce its seasonal flights between Frankfurt and Cape Town on 31 October 2011. The additional daily non-stop flights increase the airline’s capacity to around 60% over a period of five months to meet the demand needed during South Africa’s summer season. Lufthansa will be operating a Boeing 747-400 on its direct flights to Cape Town.
The airline is also running daily non-stop flights between Frankfurt and Johannesburg using the Airbus A380 throughout the year.

Lufthansa is the the largest airline in Europe as well as the world's fourth-largest airline in terms of overall passengers carried. The airline is operating services to 18 domestic destinations and 203 international destinations in 78 countries across Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe. Lufthansa is a founding member of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance.
