Cape Town: Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has increased rates!

Cape Town's Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has increased ticket rates. The new rates will be valid from 01 October 2019 until 30 September 2020. The Cableway offers two types of regular tickets - morning tickets (08:00 - 13:00) and afternoon tickets (13:00 till close). The morning adult return ticket now costs R360/person (one way ticket: R200/person), while the morning child return ticket (4-17 years of age) costs R180/person (one way: R100/person). The afternoon adult return ticket now costs R300/person (one way: R200/person) and the afternoon child return ticket (4-17 years of age) is R150/person (one way R100/person). 

The SA senior citizens ticket, which is available 7 days a week at the Lower Station Ticket Office with a valid South African ID, remains at R100/person (oneway: R50/person). The student ticket, which is also available 7 days a week at the Lower Station Ticket Office with a valid international or local student card, now costs R180/person (oneway: R90/person).

Robben Island Museum to introduce two-tier pricing!

The Robben Island Museum (RIM) is set to change its pricing model for visitors. Effective 01 June 2019, the museum will implement two-tier pricing for international and South African visitors. The new standard tariffs will be as follows:

• R550 (GPB30 | €35 | $40) for non-South African adults and R300 (GBP17 | €15 | $15) for non-South African children aged two to 18 years
• R380 for South African adults and R200 for South African children aged two to 18 years.

Robben Island's tour comprises of a ferry return trip, transport on the Island, a guided Island tour and a guided prison tour by an ex-political prisoner.
The funds generated from tour fees allows Robben Island Museum (RIM) to protect and preserve the Island's rich history as a World Heritage Site which symbolizes the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.

SANParks: Conservation efforts & security measures impacts on rates at National Parks

South African National Parks (SANParks) announced on 13 Dec 2012 that for the 2013/14 tariff year annual increases in conservation fees will be higher than anticipated. According to Joep Stevens, SANParks General Manager: Strategic Tourism Services, this became unavoidable due to the provision of additional conservation functions such as additional security measures in parks such as Kruger National Park, Marakele National Park and Table Mountain National Park.
Conservation fees will rise by 15%-25%, while the overall accommodation rates will increase by an average of 10,1%. SANParks will also adjust the accommodation rate structure to align with industry standards by introducing a low season rate, a shoulder season rate and a high season rate.
These new rate changes will come into effect on 01 November 2013; bookings for November 2013 will open on 18 December 2012.
